Title: dha supplement

my new doctor wants me taking a dha supplement (i dont eat fish) and extra calcium along with my prenatal vitamins. well i had been taking the prenatal and the dha and skipping the calcium since my stomach was bugging me so much i was only really drinking chocolate soy milk because it was the only thing that calmed my stomach and i figured i got enough calcium from that. well saturday nite i ran out of soy milk and of course threw up before bed and had to sleep propped up because my stomach was bugging me so much needless to say i didnt sleep very well. sunday i decided to not take my prenatal and the dha and see is my stomach was better, sure enough it was and i enjoyed a day of eating stuff other than rice and salads and got a good nites sleep i even got stuff done during the day which has been a challenge for over a week since moving around made me want to throw up. today im going to try just taking my prenatal vitamin and hopefully i wont have any problems since i didnt before taking the dha.

anyone elses doctor tell them to take dha supplements? anyone else have problems while taking it?

im hoping that its just the dha causing the issue so all i have to do is stop taking it.

Ask about fish oil supplement (Doesn't taste like fishSmile) It might be easier to stomach.  I know it is hard to take the Prenatals.  My pharmacist suggested chewable childrens then folic acid supplement HELPED ALOT!

well i took just the prenatal and havent had any issues so no more of that dha crap for me. this is the stuff they had me taking http://www.expectalipil.com/ ...  all i took with simon was prenatal vitamins and he was fine so i dont really see a reason for all these extra pills.

I had a lot of problems with my first pregnancy. I was iron defecient and threw up looking at the prenatals, so I completely understand the fustration! Like the above I would try the fish oil supplements and I took the plain ole cheap prenatals from local supercenter, I dont know why they helped me. I think back then the smell had a lot to do with it! As for the DHA you cant be doing better by throwing that up then keeping regular food down so I guess id rather feel better! GOOD LUCK!

You know Pez, it's really a shame you don't love your unborn child enough to take the supplement.  Just kidding....Tongue out.  I'm doing good to even remember to take my prenatal vitamins.

 Hope you're feeling better!
