Well tis' time- it starts today.

first question- Will you watch opening ceremonies tonight?

I love a good parade;)   The intrigue might override my political objections.

I will probably not alter my TV watching habits to view the Olympics.  However, while it is on, I will probably watch the coverage over another show.  You know, it is not the every week event!!

When is the Opening Ceremony airing any way?

For all of you who missed the opening ceremony, I suggest you buy the DVD.

They spent 300 MILLION dollars on it, and it was as impressive as it should have been for that price.  It was stunning.  Its scope and scale, telliing the story of China's history...followed by all the countries marching in...was inspiring to say the least.

Scarlet was unimpressed with the notion, but once it was underway, it was absolutely incredible.

As for the events, I have three channels here that show events all day long so I am channel surfing pretty agressively.  US swept womens Saber in fencing (a first) on Saturday (a sport I've done for 20 years) and the swimming has been great (the sport I grew up with.)  Michael Phelps and the mens 4x100 relay was perhaps the most exciting sporting event I've ever seen.  Really.  It was that good.

As I type this, China is drubbing Poland in the third game of their competition in indoor volleyball.  I play some beach volleyball, but these girls are amazing.

Did I mention gymnastics?  All the drama and beauty we've come to expect.

NBC is doing a great job in its coverage.  It's a great respite from Nic and Noggin.

I really don't like the Olympics and don't really have time. I am intrested though this year because two of our Bakersfield people are at the olympics. I believe one has one a medal, I need too read the paper and find out more about it.

Yeah - I was able to watch some of the games last night.  Each time I tuned into watch it was mostly commentary and I timed last night to watch swimming & gymnastics.  Good stuff - couldn't believe the falls taken by the gymastic teammate.  That happens, so all I will say is I was totally impressed by her ability to hold back the tears - you could see it all over her face.

The swimming was cool too!
