Title: Slap Cheek Disease??
Posted: 5 months ago

Hi everyone,

I am currently 25 weeks pregnant and my daughter developed a rash on her neck and cheeks last night after playing with a friend of mines son who had been walking around in the dirt. Emma rubbed his foot under chin and right after that she developed the rash. When we got home I washed her down and she went to bed, when she woke up it was on her cheeks. I am wondering if anyone can give me information on fifths disease and during pregnancy!

My suggestion...call your doctor.  I was exposed by a neighbor's daughter to Fifth's Disease before it was confirmed that I was pregnant.  My friend told me her daughter wasn't a danger to anyone unless they were pregnant, which of course I knew that there was a possibility I might be pregnant, but we hadn't confirmed it yet.  I called my doctor right away.  I had bloodwork done and it turned out I was immune.  Everything turned out fine, baby was totally healthy and I had no complications of any sort.  I found this website for information.  Hope it helps...

Thank you for the sites. I have tried calling my doctors office and no one has been answering the last couple of days. I had a question about hepatitis B the other day and had to leave a message in order to get them to call me back. Now this, I am starting to really dislike my doctors office and I am going to start looking for a new one!

usually by the time they have the rash they are no longer contagious with 5ths disease if that is truly what she has. chances are you have already had it and didn't even know it so you would be immune to it.

Thank you very much! I finally got ahold of my doctor's office and they have scheduled us in for 3:30 today. Makes me feel alot better, I would just like to make sure that Emma is ok and that the baby isn't at risk for getting anything.
