Title: What would you change on your baby registry?
Posted: 5 months ago

In honor of the Wishpot launch, see here ... and to help me out if you could change one thing- or more- on your baby registry what would it be? or is there something they have for babies today you wish you had?  Or something that was totally useless you hit yourself for buying/registered for? (yes I know, the diaper genieWink

Me I wish I bought a smaller high chair- my tray was so LARGE it didn't fit into the sink!

Jogging strollers became popular after I had N and when I had M didn't want to spend the money$$Frown They are nice.

I was so happy I didn't have the fancy baby bedding- after N firt at home baby poop mess I thanked my lucky mommy stars I had plain jane blankets and sheets!

I totally agree on the cheap baby bedding!  When they are constantly spitting up and having accidents all over it, you'll be glad you didn't spend mega-bucks on designer sheets. Smile

I think two of the most useless items we received were the baby wipes warmer and the baby bottle warmer (never even made it out of the package!).  They are just completely not necessary.  Your baby will be fine with room temperature wipes (that's what they get when you're traveling anyway) and it just dried out the wipes.  The baby bottle warmer...like I said, it never made it out of the package.  We would warm up the water in the microwave and then add the formula.  Shaking it to mix the formula also got rid of any "hot spots" in the water, and we were good to go.

I also agree on the huge high chair thing.  We used it for Emma (despite it being a bit of a pain and taking up too much room in our little apartment).  Then we got a portable high chair/booster thing (I think it's the brand The First Years....don't remember for sure) and that was all we used for Timothy.  It was SO much nicer and we could bring it with if we were traveling.

Honestly, the crib! No kidding we use our crib as storage. Megan never slept in her crin, maybe once for a few hours, in the beginning she slept in her bouncy chair then moved to the pack n play and then into our bed and now she is transfering into a toddler bed (I'll let you know how that goes;)

Madelyn sleeps in her papasan swing and will be moving to the pack n play soon, she might move to the crib, but I'll let her take the lead on that. She may just end up moving into the toddler bed as well. If Megan would have stayed in the pack n play she'd have moved into a toddler bed a few months ago, which might just happen with Madelyn. Although our crib is a 3-n-1 and converts to the toddler bed, we still never used the crib part accept to store stuff in, if I had it to do over again, I'd just regisiter for the toddler bed. Hinesight.

Oh and the bottle drying rack.

I would have changed the fact that no one but my mom bought me something from my registry.  Why did I bother registering and telling everyone what I registered for if they had no intention to get me what I wanted/needed?  Kinda reminds me of when I registered for wedding gifts, which I also received one gift from my actual registry as well...

Im with Val. I only had 1 baby shower and no one (except my sis in law) got anything off the registry...so it seemed pretty pointless to even have one.

i'm that girl who won't buy you what you want off your reg...hehe shame on me.

I buy every one the same thing. books, clths, the best bottle washer on the planet made by little munchkin, did i mention books, dipers and a toy...and if I really like you i get you something too not just something for the babySmile

I did follow registers though ,until I had my own kid then relized the fist time i looked at a registery after that, that soon to be mom really had no clue what she was asking for designer sheets, pshaa! so i got her things that were really helpful to me as a mom, did I mention books were a good thing to put on the registery?

things that you cant have enough of burp rags, cloth diapers, recieveing blankets, bedding...spare sheets and such not hte fancy crap either

brad was allergic to baby bath crap that I registered for and it never got used... so things like that I'd wait on to get my self after baby was born and you can try out the products that the hospital uses.Smile

If i had to do it again, i would never register for recieving blankets or designer burp clothes, a diaper genie, bottle warmer, or sterilizer, and I could go on.

Receiving blankets - too small, the ones at the hospital are so much better, stuff one in your bag each night and you will be good to go.  You pay for them

Burp clothes - Cloth diapers a more absorbant... face it... they are made to be absorbant.

Diaper genie - yuck yuck yuck

bottle warmer - never used it.  gabriel drank his formula at room temp and was perfectly fine

sterilizer - that is what a dishwasher is and as soon as someone touches the bottle, sterlization is over..

Can't live without..... a good rocker/glider, boppie pillow, distracting toy, MYLICON!!!!!!i

Honestly, I would not have changed a thing on my baby registry. I EASILY spent hundreds of hours researching every item on my registry and putting a lot of thought into the practicality of each item. Although, now that I think about it, I probably would have picked a different stroller. The one that we got is almost dead, but it doesn't matter because we had to replace it with a double stroller! ^_^

I am pretty sure I would have been fine had people gotten me what I needed, like diapers and other items.  But I am not kidding when I tell you that I got washcloths and blankets and that's about it!  Oh and the lame Tommy Hillfiger outfit...I am so not into that stuff!

I really don't think I would have changed a thing, I kep my registry simple.  The only thing I registered for and received, but rarely used was the bouncer.  However, that was because Rivers didn't prefer it.  Who know's if we have a #2, maybe it will like the bouncer better.

I loved my carrier, but I think if I have another, I would go with a baby sling instead of a carrier because they have greater flexibility.

Otherwise, the things I received and did not get were items not bought off my registery.  Most did use it - I made sure DH, Mom, and a good friend got the word out about it.
