Title: Workng parents what do you do for child care in the summer?

Day care and camps can get costly, what do you do during summer months with the kids while your working?

So is it day camp? Older siblings keep an eye on things? What works for your family?

Can you share some experiences with Day camps? Is  it action packed fun for the kids all day or do they just loaf around?

What should someone look for when looking into summer care?

We use our daycare, which is now preschool.  However, during the summer time they call the program summer camp.  When Rivers gets older, I will probably enroll him in the camp at the Phoenix Zoo.

I was lucky enough that when I was working I was a teacher so I had the whole summer off too.  But the fact was that my little guy was going to daycare during the school year too so technically it would not have been any different.

when i was younger my mom had us in classes through parks and recreation since they were held right at the park at the end of our street, i didnt go to to many of the classes but my sister went to alot mainly art classes. we also did lots and lots of swim classes but those were when my mom still stayed home. when my mom started working i was in 5th or 6th grade cant remember but my sister and i mainly stayed home, at one time she put us in this activity thing at our school i think i went a total of one time and didnt stay the whole time i left and walked home it was boring i knew no one there most the other kids were younger than me and my idea of fun wasnt playing in the cafeteria so i spent alot of time at home reading.

currently im home with simon 24/7 but im sure that will change at some point (it has to change hehe) so i dont really need to put him in anything during the day but i would really like to get him out so he can play with other kids instead of being stuck here with me all day. what i really want to get him into is some music class everything to him is a musical instrument, he is constantly singing and making up songs and pretending to play instruments even though he has a ton of real ones.

WEll, I'm back to being a SAHM, so my little ones are staying home with me.  I might find a few things around here for them to do, like the summer movie club, library events and then our church daycamp in July and VBS in Aug.  So they will stay busy and so will Mommy.

I was a little costly, but they really had fun in the summer going to Boys and Girls Club's Day Camps. They have fieldtrips 2-3 times a week, and was fun all the time... Laughing

My girls are going to day camp for six weeks, then my 12 year old is going to a sleepover bible camp for one week.  My 6 year old will then go to a wilderness camp for a week.  Any unaccounted for time will mostly be spent with grandparents.  Yes, it gets very costly!  Also, very stressful keeping events organized.  I am lucky to have very understanding bosses though.  My schedule is pretty much arranged around my children and there lives.  That's just the way it is.
