Everyone lately has had to raise their prices to offset the hike in fuel prices.  There is also pressure put on airports for better security .  Sad that this just makes it harder for the common person to afford air travel.  I am not sure though if all the blame falls on the air line companies.

RISING PRICES I GET        CHARGING FOR OUR BAGS  AFTER ALREADY HIGH PRICES TOO MUCH  AND WILL SINCERILY HURT AIRLINES IN LONG RUN I THINK ... I HATE this and I think its WRONG ... They also say  theyre thinking of charging double for overwght peeps  UHHH Since thats ALREADY common nasty practice  way I heard it from them  new guidelines are equal charge passengers tickets  /seats BY THE POUND !!! And That my Friend  just  REALLY  Insults  and  ANGERS ME .. We are PEOPLE not livestock.. and simply plain NOT RIGHT nor FAIR to ANYONE .. Bags just beginning

Maybe think of it this way- Those who bring more luggage make more work for the airlines, through handleing, security etc.  To me it seems like they are off-setting higher fuel, tightening security measures and Maybe if were lucky reducing the number of lost luggage  I really don't think it will hurt- maybe encourage people to pack more sensibly. 

While fuel prices are rising causing airlines to raise their airfair $60/ticket and charging for bags let's ask United's CEO just how much his bonus was this year, because I guarantee you it's more than we'll see in a lifetime!

Exactly, Katie!!!  You get all of these companies that are complaining about their costs because forbid their execs bring home less than the millions of dollars they are used to!

While I think it would be nice to not have to pay it, the fact of the matter is we probably have not seen the worst of price hikes on things that most see as ridiculous.  As a flyer (2-4 timesa year) it does not bother me with the price increase, because I mostly fly as a convenience so I don't have to drive with kids, etc.  It's easier to fly and Gabriel loves it.  HOWEVER, I went to fill the tank up with gas this morning and I paid 63.58 to fill my tank (it was on E) at 3.99 9/10 per gallon. Then I started thinking that I paid 8 hours at $7/hr pay on gas for a tank.  That is someones entire days work of income I paid on gas.  Insane!!!

it doesnt bug me since i see flying as a total luxury i havent flown anywhere since i was pretty young and prolly wont fly any where for a really long time. we drive everywhere we get to see alot more stuff that way and dont have to worry about needing to rent a car or anything when we get to where we are going. we normally dont go to far last trip was to utah for a family reunion 6hr drive couldnt even imagine flying there, we brought alot of stuff with us even had one of the back seats in the pt flipped down to fit more stuff but it was also the first time staying over nite somewhere else with simon. if we didnt have our car we wouldnt of been able to go to brice canyon or anywhere else we would of just stayed around the hotel and went crazy.
