Too soon I think, but who am i to judge. . .

We lived in Tampa one year when Super Bowl was there.  There was no hype from there until right before.

I think that Glendale is doing a lot to get ppl excited, that way they will be able to get it back.  With all the revenue it produces though,  I really wish that it would be used for good things, instead of not knowing where in the world all that tax dollars goes too.

Dito that on "ONE EXPENSIVE CLOCK"...I wonder if other Superbowl Hosts get so excited or if it is such a big deal for AZ to promote with the new stadium.

It should be a fun time around here - it was the last time it rolled through town.

Good gracious! That is a lot of money but at least it is in a location that might draw more tourists for us. I for one, do not plan on leaving my house that weekend... traffic is bad enough already!

I REALLY enjoy a good game of football.  But come on, couldn't the state find something better to spend that much money on?

Title: The NFL is doing what?
Posted: 1 years ago

Okay, so I'm sure everyone has heard about Michael Vic already and his dog fights for fun, now he is in big trouble with the law and stuff.  Why should the NFL not allow him to play because of it?  I'm sorry, I don't condone what he did because I just don't agree with animals being treated like that (dog races, horse races, rooster fights, etc.).  But what he did has nothing to do with football!  Why is he being punished by the NFL for what he has done?  I don't want to hear any of that "but he is a role model" crap either because I am sick of hearing that stars are role models...for what having lots of money and occasionally doing good things for other people?  I thought that the age old saying was, "Let the punishment fit the crime."  Since when does dog fighting have anything to do with playing football?  Sorry, I needed to get rid of that...

im pretty sure they are not letting him play because he broke the law there is prolly a clause in his contract for unlawful activities.

It is sad when someone that important lets us down. Usually when there are dog fights you would find drugs also. At dog fights many things can go wrong. Drugs, murder of the animal and sometimes the people deeling. He is a role model and for that he should have not comited a crime. It may not have anything to do with football but if they let him play it would only send the wrong message to kids. If he did the crime he should pay what ever the punishment is.

I have to say that I put some credence into the role model belief.  Not that I think athletes should be role models by any stretch of the imagination, but since they are there, I think the judgement standards should be a little more strict.  I'm sure that if he's found innocent, he'll be back.

That being said, I think the only reason the NFL suspended him was to avoid controversy and avert any sort of financial loss that would arise.  I'm pretty sure that these are the same reasons that Nike and other companies have suspended his multi-million dollar endorsement deals.  I doubt any of these entities are doing so out of any concern for the youth who look up to these guys or anyone else other than themselves.

I completely agree with the role model thing - NO sports figures should not be role models - police officers, teachers, doctors, PARENTS should be role models!  However the society we live in today promotes this, and with the $ that follows the status, we will continue too also.

The NFL did this because of his contract - conduct unbecoming to the sport.  This simple wording can allow them to do what ever they feel to what ever the feel will give them a black eye.  No the dog fighting had nothing to do with his NFL career, however his actions off the field speak for the actions on the field.  If he could do this and not be punished in the pocket book where it hurts him most, then it would allow other sport figures to use him as a precidence in court to get there way if they got punished in the pocketbook later.

Like it or not  they ARE Role Models  And That ISNT why hes being stopped!!!! The man broke SEVERAL LAWS!!!! Hes Going to jail and Ive watched whole thing unravelling here  including all the graves and the  cruelly injured dogs hidden on premises!!! Im only MAD AS H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICK they DIDNT charge him SOONER!!!! This isnt Racing  This is a very SICK bunch of  CRIMINALS who get off on Fight to the Death  What does  that say about a man? or Woman for that matter? Ruthless cold blooded . hard and   another Fake Who could EASILY kill a wife or Kids   HMMM Sound familiar?     I honestly could care less for BIG Pro Sports,    Way Overpaid, Way TOO POWERFUL  , and Thinking Anything they do is above the law  they can pay a fine and get out of it     No This IS HARD CORE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY!!!!  So He SHOULD LOSE HIS JOB!!!! HIS HUGE PAYCHECKS!!! and   No SPECIAL Treatment in  Jail  where he ought rot for a LONG Time    And keep him AWAY from My kids  cause God help him if he gets mad!!  The NFL  would be wrong NOT to kick him out , and  this type of activity DOES affect   his playing for ABOVE REASONS  AND  HE IS GUILTY!!!! NOT  INNOCENT !!!Whats Ihe Problem here?I APPLAUD  NFL for kicking him out !!   As its Michaels  choice to   BREAK the Law  and  get off on bloodthirsty  VISCIOUS   DEADLY  activity
