This is right up my alley!  WOOT WOOT!

I am a huge NASCAR fan!

Love Dale Earnhardt Jr - BIG #8 fan!  I am glad he is making the change to a different team - just wish he would decide Wink

As for someone who gets on my nerves, I am a big fan, do not dislike anyone, but if have to pick one driver - Kyle Busch, for trying to learn from his brother's mistakes - he is the biggest egotisical person ont he track - even bigger than Jimmie Johnson of years gone by.

But the ppl that get on my nerves the most, the NBC Announcers - Rest in Peace Benny Parsons, but I would mute them and just watch the race.

I enjoy Nascar and catch the occasional race, not as many as I used to though. Jeff Gordon is my favorite and the reason I got into the sport, after he came to a Promise Keepers rally in North Carolina, during the weekend he was racing in Michigan, which is quite a commitment considering the miles and preparation required for each race.

I guess Tony Steward would be closest to my least favorite.

We are pretty big NASCAR fans.  I love Dale, Jr.  My least favorite has to be Gordon.  I am going to get the chance to go to my first race in Chicago this year.  I am really looking forward to it.

My BIL that recently passed was a HUGE Richard Petty fan.  You should see the stuff he has.  The race that was the Saturday after he passed, the 43 car had his name in it as a tribute!  We even got a really neat flag from Petty Enterprises that he was buried with.  Richard was pretty touched by what a big fan Tom was!

When we lived in FL, we were at Daytona every year.  My DH & dad were there when Sr. was killed and I was there in July when Jr won!  It was awesome!

Born and raised and always will be an Earnhardt fan!

My father is a NASCAR junkie, so by association, I've grown up with it. I'm a big fan of Junior. He's probably my favorite. I don't think I dislike any of them specifically, except Juan Pablo Montoya.

I watch Nascar on occasion, but definietly not religiously like my bil Mike.  I have not watched it enough to have a fave though, but I do know some names of some drivers...so I guess I will just like the ones that drive Chevrolet or Toyota.

Oh, no, no... Chevy, yes, but Toyota... no way. Not for me. I'd rather you said Fords, even though I can't root for a Ford driver either. Toyota... man. It's gonna take a long time for me (and other NASCAR junkies) to accept Toyotas into the race, however good the cars may be.

Well, lets just say, Nascar rules! Richmond was great, the atmosphere is fantastic. Its a whole day event. The only thing that would make it better would be seeing and meeting the racers up close. And more shade.

The crowd is so huge, and there was a greater female presence than I expected, though by the response in this forum I probably shouldn't have been surprised. There was also a lot of young children. Younger than could be expected to appreciate the race.

The cars are faster and louder(needed ear plugs) than I expected. Its also harder to keep track of them(TV spoils you), especially if you get distracted. But nothing can beat seeing it all in person and absorbing the event - the sounds, smells and sights.

Here is for all us Dale Jr fans, and those of you who are not, it makes for a good read anyway . . .

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all 'round the track
Not a creature was stirring, not even Fatback.
Stockings were hung in garage stalls with attention
In hopes they would not fail post-Christmas inspection.

Nestled in coaches, the drivers were resting,
Snoozing away the last days before testing.
While over at Hendrick, with eyes all bloodshot
Chad Knaus worked on new ways of improving the COT.

Then out on the frontstretch arose such a roar
It rattled the windows from Turn 1 to Turn 4.
Shades were flung open, light switches flicked on
Carl Edwards cracked open his door with a yawn.

The image before them was cloaked by the night,
The glint off crushed beer cans the sole source of light.
And what did I see in the glow of my lamp,
But a No. 88 car, powered by Amp.

With an unshaven driver, in such a mood of good humor
I knew in a moment that it must be Dale Jr.
Fueled by Sonoco his supporting cast came,
And he chugged down a Bud and then called them by name:

"Now, Jeff! Now, Jimmie! Now Tony Jr. and Kelley!
On, Casey! On, Pops! On, Brad Keselowski!
Take the high line! Find the high groove!
Championship-worthy is what we'll prove!"

Right up the banking the winged car flew
With a trunk full of promise, and little Earnhardt, too.
Then suddenly on rooftop there was heard the peal
Of a Goodyear tire all screeching and squeal.

And without even giving a warning
Dale Jr. burst through the front door like the morning.
He was dressed in a firesuit from his neck to his foot
And his shiny green helmet was all covered in soot.

A carton of energy drinks slung over his shoulder,
He asked, "You got a fridge? These could be colder."
His voice was so twangy, his shirttail hung loose,
His tousled hair needed a brush and some mousse.

His cheeks bore the growth of a week's worth of stubble,
And his piercing blue eyes were just asking for trouble.
But he brought no ill will, had not a thing to decry,
Aside from some engines at DEI.

He filled all the stockings with cans brightly hued,
And a National Guard recruiting pamphlet or two.
Then cueing the radio, he called for his crew,
To bring 'round the car, and he bid me adieu.

But I heard him exclaim o'er the roar of the motor,
"Merry Christmas to all -- and 54 days 'til Daytona!"
