I like to play golf.

I like to see teh odd tourney on TV and follow some of the drama.

But is golf really a sport?  C'mon!!! 

Tell me what you think. 

It might be a good sport to play, but not a good one to watch.  My brother has come into town for the Phoenix Open a few times and he made me go.  It was cool hanging out with him, but the golf was only so so.  And watching it on tv, forget it!!! 

The guy I was with previousily, took me to hit some balls at a golf range. It was pretty cool. I'd consider going with somene, but they would have to teach me. LOL I am a straight hitter.

If that means anything LOL.

Personally, I do not see the enjoyment in golf - drive or walk to a tee, hit the ball, chase the ball, start all over again. ..

So it all demends on your definitions.  For me, of course it is a sport, c'mon!  There is strategy to achieve the obejective and it does take physicaly coordination. 

Does it get your heart rate up like some other common physical sports (basketball, football, soccer) - no, but from the mental aspect and the fact that you have to use your body and mind coordination, in my book it is a sport. 

Furthermore, if you are going to question wether or not golf is a sport, I would say baseball should be questioned just the same.  The only 2 things I will give it over golf are 1) its a team game and 2) little more physical energy must be given.

There are competivite games that are not sports, like chess; however, it goes back to my first statement and some may consider chess a sport because of the competitive strategy.  To me it is not because it is played sitting down and no physical movement is requirement other then lifted your arm to move your piece - still there is a ton of strategy.

Sure, its a sport, albeit not one I enjoy watching on TV but its a sport, nonetheless.  I've been to a few tournaments and in person, its not so bad to watch....I've never played, but I don't think I would be very good.

Depends on who you ask ... if you ask my husband, who was one of the better golfers in the State of Arizona in his hey day, he would say that he thinks of it as a sport, as would any PGA or LPGA golfer.  But ultimately, he would feel no compulsion to convince anyone that it is.

If you ask me, I also don't feel any need to make a determination one way or another.  I love golf because I come from a family of golfers, and it gives me time with my daughter.  When my husband isn't golfing, he his hogging Tiffany - she's a world class daddy's girl.  I also love hanging out at golf courses and country clubs - they are so beautiful and picturesque.

Ultimately, I don't think real golfers care if it is considered a sport or not.  I know my husband could care less what anyone thinks.  He's been golfing since he was old enough to walk and will always love it.  He's won thousands of dollars over the years and always buys Tiffany and I jewelry and mutual funds with his winnings.

His good friend in Tempe, AZ just won $17,000 cash, last two Friday's ago, playing golf.  What ever golf is, those who love it, really get in to it.  What it may be labeled (sport or not) is irrelevant to them.

If you enjoy golf, no need to worry about "what" it is considered.  Put them shades on, you just might get a hole in one, multiple birdies, eagles, albatross, etc. and a stash of cash to go along with it!!!

i guess it is a sport, you compete against others.  why it has a whole channel, I do not know. 

I don't enjoy watching golf on television, but I also don't enjoy watching fishing on television either.   At any rate...do I think golf is a sport?  Yes...

I went out to putt a little this morning with my children.  It is fun and requires concentration, skill, and good aim...well, yet another sport I am not good at!

 

Kudos to those that excel in this sport!  It is hard!

It won't stop me from trying though and the kiddos have sooooo much fun trying!  It is an activity that requires you to be off the couch and moving around.  That has got to count for some sort of exercise!

i consider it a sport but its not a sport for me, i find it extremely boring. everybody loves to play golf on the wii i usally sit out when they play it, it usally puts me to sleep hehe.

I don't care for golf at all, but it technically is a sport, I think.  You have to have skill, not everyone can do it.  You are doing something physically active.  And you are competing against other players.  So yes, golf is a sport so keep on playing!!  But you might want to consider a more "manly" sport if you want to impress the ladies...ha ha ha.  Just kidding!

yes golf is a sport, i also love to play i'm not very good at it but i like to drive the cart heheheh.......... well i also like to wack the ball, i really think that they should make mini glof a sport because i'm better at that. it would be a lot of fun traveling to differnt places to play mini golf and get payed for it, i think thats the best patrt. No but seriosly i think any game u play and they win money, and make money off of it, its a sport. It's just like Nascar thats a sport. isn't it?
