He loves the dirt but hates the bugs. He can play t-ball and football and then play house with his sis. He loves with his whole heart. His passions are endless. As much as he gets frustrated his excitement is ten fold that. He went to bed a toddler and somehow in the night he changed into a great "Big" boy! I love you my Five-year-old!...

Craftastic, Craptastic, Disaster
Jul 06, 2008 1:29 pm
Not all crafts go exactly as planned here. A lack of ventilation, not following directions and a four-year-old's endless curiosity leads to, well a craft mutiny. With an inspiration thanks to my blogger friend Jane at Kidzarama, I attempted puff paint....

Right Outside

"If you can't find what you're looking for in your own backyard, maybe you never really lost it at all." Dorothy Gale Wizard of OZ I love watching my children's faces when they make a wonderful discovery. M spotted a butterfly in our flowering bush. We watched the lil' butterfly sit on our flowers for fifteen minutes. When...

Down on the Farm
Jun 15, 2008 1:50 pm
Last weekend was a trip to Grandma Mimi & Farmer M's farm. The kids had a blast and Nolan got to ride the chopper. Basically the chopper takes the chopped hay from the field and puts it in a large truck. To see it is amazing, they are so organized, it is like watching a tractor ballet. This week after E mowed the grass N got out his own chopper...

Shiver Me Timbers Pirates We Be
Jun 08, 2008 5:12 pm
My kids are some mighty cute, I mean burly, pirates. They had a blast pretending to sail the seven seas and today they will have their own treasure hunt! We made treasure chest. I bought wood chests from the craft store, the kids painted and decorated them all up. Micheal's crafts has some cute kids pirate craft items. The hats were from Target's...

I Want my Mommy
Jun 05, 2008 5:33 pm
I am changing my name, no not my given birth name. No, that name I got four years ago with the birth of my son, the name "Mom." Yes ladies it has been one of those days, the day were the sound of your own name is like nails on the chalkboard. "Mom, she hit me." "Mom my butt hurts." "Mom da- da -da juice." Mind...

Taco Tuesday
Jun 02, 2008 6:52 pm
My son woke up this morning, and like every morning the first thing he asks is " what day is today?" Once a week before I answer I have to brace myself. This day is today because in our house it is Taco Tuesday. As soon as the day comes out of my mouth shouts of joy follow, proceeded by the endless question," Are you making tacos now?"...

Oh it is here, knock on wood, sprinklers, gardens, flowers, beach towels, sun block, barbecue, ice tea I can go on and on. This is the time of year I love! We are off and running already. The garden is in and starting to grow, the plants are in their planters and the kids finally were able to wear their swimsuits outside and get a little wet. Living...

Birds Nest Craft
May 22, 2008 6:38 am
Yesterday we did a quick and easy craft, birds nest. You will only need a few supplies, a small Dixie Cup, paper shreds, like you find in the gift wrapping section, glue and pom-poms. Cut your small Dixie cup 2/3 the way down. Use paint brush to paint glue around the cup. Place paper shreds around cup, wrapping all the way around, glue any loose...

A Trip to the Park
more then a trip to the park
May 16, 2008 11:09 am
There are many ways to tell that my children are growing. The fact that N went from the toddler section to the big boy side of the store was a scary thing for me, I actually cried in Target, one lonely tear cry. Megan has also jumped to clothing that ends in “T” no more “months” for my baby. My heart...

3 Days, The 3 R’s and 3 New Mother Earth Lovin’ Tree-huggers
May 09, 2008 12:01 pm
Neer entered my Earth day contest blog :) Day One: I will admit we are not a very Green family. More so out of the force of habit I think. I can honestly say I do not recycle everything that I am suppose to and at any given moment of the day more then five lights will be on in the house. I decided the best way to... Dandelions, Baseball and Birth Stories Yes the evil dandelion weed, E spends the better part of the summer trying to get rid of them. But a dandelion is a flower and for today we had fun with them. M went around the yard picking dandelions she looked like Laura Ingells roaming the prairies picking wild flowers. I followed M all around the yard tying the dandelions she collected and tied... Flowers We are only half way through the week and the kids and I are having a blast with our week of flowers. Inspired by Kids Craft Weekly, I have used the crafts given and expanded on our daily happenings with my own ideas. We have cooked with flowers, flower crafts, and we walked amongest flowers. ... The Sickness Shuffle I always seem to write about my appearance as a mom. I have to admit I am getting better. On those jogging pant’s days I try harder to do my hair, put on a little make-up. Our appearance says a lot about us. Today my appearance tells you one of two things, that I spend the better part of the week in a tavern... Real Mom- Art Curator My talents in art consists of stick people and third grade flowers and hearts, you can say I appreciate art. One of the five best days in my life was the day I spent at the Chicago Art Museum. This was before children, I roamed the halls- Picasso, Seurat, Renoir. To make it even more special was a traveling display of Ansel Adams original... Curiosity Might Have Killed the Cat but it Made George Cute. Everyday , like most mommies, I am face with an endless barrage of questions. From my one year old it is usually simply pointing to something in a picture book and saying “tat.” Her inquisitive nature is easily answered with “yes a dog.” She smiles as if to say thank you. The hard one right now is my four year... e- mail to my mom... Okay after the Easter baskets were emptied and every toy was tested and played with I sent this e-mail to my mom... I came to the realization today that somethings that I enjoyed as a child- you might not of enjoyed so much. Case in point Silly Putty. I put one egg in each of the kids basket- excited because my DC would enjoy something... The Eccentric Ones One of the greatest things about children is their incredible knack of seeing things not how they were meant to be. Their sense of imagination and wonder turns the most ordinary things into the most extraordinary things. How a bowl can be a hat or a pot and spoon creates their very own rock band. I am truly amazed everyday at my children’s... Mall Rats I am not one to spend much time in the mall- if I don't have the money I do not go there, mostly because I face the ironic fate that when I have no money I love everything, and when I am ready to spend nothing looks great. Yesterday though I found myself at the mall for an Easter Bunny visit. The Easter Bunny was first of course. Big ups to Meg for not crying- she actually said "hi" to the bunny! We took our picture and I paid for the ridculously expensive pictures. I reserve the right to spend the extra dough because I feel it is a right of childhood. Here is a hint to all moms, before lunch on weekdays is the time to see the mall Santas and Easter Bunny-no waiting! Then we got to pick from the internatioal cuisine that is the mall food court. Eating as we peopled watched, the best part about the mall if you ask me. Man there are some weird people most of them seem to always be at the mall. Okay is is the gross part of the story- we had to use the mall family bath-YUCK! Nolan love for the mini toliet made him want to do #2 and I had to run defense to try to keep Meg from touching everything. By the end-10 minutes-my anxiety was through the roof. This mall visit I had the dough and a mission- and not a thing looked great of course. Off to the book store. This is the only reason to come to the mall- I love the kids books, the discount tables are the bomb. Funny book store story- My mother in law had never really been in a Barnes and Noble and was not happy when my sister in law dragged her in, 30 minutes later they had to drag my MIL out. We played and looked at books-and of course I cannot leave without buying some. I even found the book my cousin Jess modeled for- http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Real-Spirit/Elizabeth-Chobanian/e/9781584857303/?itm=3 Check out the cute girl on the cover that is her! I am not a mall rat-but I had fun! Monster Truck Mania You find it hard sometimes finding good quality time with each kid. If not competing with Megan I usually am competing with Daddy. The stars aligned today and I had over an hour with Nolan all to myself and I learned everything I need to know about Monster Trucks. Nolan and I started our quality time watching Gravedigger... I know I am a bit partial to this but my little 20 month old gives the best hugs in the whole world. my little girls hugs are like the whole world hugging you-a feeling of great love and peace just surrond you. It is so amazing. Upon your request for a hug, across the room Megan will look at you and smile the biggest smile, from ear... Megan's speech We had our 3 month check-up with Birth to Three, for Megan's speech. She is still below her age requirements. Her progression though and her above average comp. and play skills show there is not much to worry about at this time. The speech therapist suggested the use of some signs to help curb the frustrations. I was concerened... Wild children I have the two wildest kids in the world. Nolan I swear needs an off switch. He can go morning to night . I really cherish the moments when he his still- meaning eating. His obsession with monster trucks latley is too cute. Yesterday he had his flag, his prize from the monster truck show, shoved in the back of his pants. "What are you... Why I am going Crazy Mommy the sucker I would like to congratulate the thinktank behind Build A Bear Workshop. What a ingenius idea, not only stuff the bears-but make them grr, meow, woof, sing, dress them in human clothing and make a gazillon dollars doing it. I think it more of a right of passage, the every other mommy is doing sort of thing I guilt myself into. Can I tell you I... Okay I know every mother dreams of having their daughter wear a tutu and every girl dreams of being a ballerina but I swear at 18 months Megan is ready. When I went to the YMCA today I notice they were starting classes for 3 year olds- my heart fluttered. My lil' gal walks around the house on her tipee toes and her favorite way to dance... Nolan's way of driving me crazy when asked at Nolan's IEP meeting what are his strengths without hesitation I said his sense of humor. he does too- I swear his greatest goal in the day is to make everyone laugh. But it too can drive me crazy. All things bodily-and words not to be said. I punish-corner, room then have to usally excuse my self to laugh in... Gentle and kind You are your own girl I had posted this picture in the forum with the story of this dress but I realized I need to write more so I will blog. Funny things my kids did today Nolan got a gift certificate to a water park- yelled and screamed with excitment and carried the map all around the house. Jim thought he wouldn't know what it was-Nolan know right when he saw the huge water slide! Little Megan carried her rose petal cottage stove all over the house. Not before shoving her dolls in there! Nolan countinues...

Nolan’s first day of preschool
Feb 26, 2008 6:25 pm
The thought of me sending my little boy to pre-school was hard. We had spend 3 years together- the two of us. Where ever I was, Nolan was not to far behind. With the birth of Megan though it was changing and I knew he needed more interaction. I was still reluctant though, so much so that I held off till October, after school...

It has come apparent that the winter blahs have taken effect. I am happy to say that this year has not been as bad as other years-falling about two weeks short from turning into Jack Torrance. "Heeeerrrres Susan" Alas though I have been snowed in for more days then I care to be!
I have tried to pack the day with little surprises...

My Daughter and My Grandma
