I looked around on the internet for some reviews of this product, and they were not all that good.  Although the reviews stated that PSP is really great technology, of the reviews that I read, it stated that the system was slightly expensive, very fragile, has low battery life and requires many accessories that are also pricey to use all the extra features (ie: MP3 player).  I am not electronic savvy, but you might want to look into it a little more.  I might not be getting all the information correct and some of the reviews that I read were posted quite some time ago.  The product could very well have been improved since then.  It was suggested that it was a better gaming system for a High School age child.  My neighbor purchased one for her 7 year old grandson for Christmas.  It looks so cool!Smile  My 6 year old was enjoying watching her grandson play.  She did say that it was a fragile gaming unit and that the first one that she purchased him was broken.  The store replaced it with a new system.  She does have to constantly tell him to not run with it though.  He may be just to young to understand how fragile it really is.

Good Luck.Smile

I do not remember any videos like that, but I wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes watching them anyways.  I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it.  Did anyone read about the boy who hanged himself mimicking Saddam's death?  He was only 6 or 7 years old.  It was so incredibly sad.  He had watched the hanging on TV with his Uncle and then hung himself in his room!  I just do not understand why the news stations insist on putting videos of this nature on for everyone to see. I suppose some of the blame has to be for the adult whom let the child watch. This is one of the reasons that I no longer watch the evening news.  My children are all home, and I don't want them to be scared or worried about what the might see on the television.  Disney Channel...here we come!Smile

Welcome!Smile

I am also a SAHM.  I have 4 beautiful children that keep me busy.

Brea 14 1/2, Braedon 12, Bryce 6 1/2, & Brenna 4...WOW isn't that a mouthful of Br's.Laughing

BTW...I totally understand the friend thing.  I was the first of my friends to get married and have children. I have lost touch with many of them over the years.  Some of them are just starting their families now.  This is a great place to keep in touch with other parents. Everyone here is so nice.Smile

oh we also bought a protector for the screen and a holder for the unit.....its cool cause you dont have to take it out to play it.......thanks again.........

oh also we signed up for a membership at blockbuster....and we are just going to rent the stuff for them instead of always buying them........

Where did you find the protector and the holder for the unit?  I would love to tell my neighbor about it for her grandson.  Also, renting the games first is a smart idea.  We have done it before for the PS2 games to make sure that they weren't to hard for our youngest son.  I wish they had someplace where you could rent GBA games.  Lately, it seems that the games we have gotten the boys have been too hard, and I probably wouldn't have purchased them.

OMG!  This is so sad, and again a reminder for me why we never left anyone besides the 2 sets of Grandparents to watch our children.  My husbands parents live out of the country so they only babysit for us about twice a year.  Better than never getting out.Smile  I think that if I didn't have any family here to help me, than I would most certainly check into whom I was letting watch my child.  Getting references and speaking to previous clients is a great idea.  It is always nice when the child is old enough to let you know how the babysitter treated them, but when they are little they just can't do that.  I feel extremely fortunate that now my 14 year old is old enough to hold down the fort if my husband and I want to go to the movies.  We do wait until after we put everyone else to bed before we leave, but she is there keeping an'eye' on things should someone wake up or need us.  Then we can just come home.  Isn't there some type of babysitting service that does background checks?  I think I read about that somewhere....

Will vinegar or peroxide get rid of the odor that occasionally comes from the kitchen sink?  I have tried more remedies than I can count to help with this problem.  Nothing seems to work that good.  I have bought the tablets, Pampered Chef sink fizz, and poured bleach down the drain.  My husband has gone so far as taking the disposal out and cleaning it. That was alot of work for very little results.  Any suggestions?

Both of my girls didn't take a binky...sounds great I know, but it isn't so easy to get them to stop sucking their fingers.  I am still working on the 4 year old.  Both of my boys did take binky's.  When my eldest was one, he got very sick with a cold and he could hardly breath.  At that time, it was really easy to take his binky and tell him he couldn't use it because he was sick.  By the time he was better, he didn't need it anymore.  With my younger son, he was just over a year and we couldn't  find  his binky at bedtime.  Despite a huge house search, it was gone.  We told him it was lost and he managed without it. (We found the binky in the car...didn't think to look there) Oh well, that worked in our favor.Smile

I had seen a show some time ago that used the "Binky Fairy" to rid their child of his or her child's habit...I can't remember exactly...something like telling the child that the binky was needed by all the new babies coming into the world and then they put the binky in a tree on a string and the next day it was replaced by a toy.  Maybe someone else here remembers exactly what was done, but I think that it worked.  9 months old might be a little young to understand this concept. I remember all to well being  awakened by my crying son to find the binky in his crib...nothing like being half asleep looking under the crib in the dark to find that silly thing.Laughing

Best of luck.

It depends who is in the car with me.  I love my Rascal Flats CD's, and my younger children love the Sugar Babies CD.  If my eldest is in the car, she prefers artists like Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Akon, & Beyonce.  I have been listening to more Justin Timberlake lately because I am taking my eldest to see him in concert on Sunday.  Smile

My In-laws have lived in Rocky Point for 15 years.  They moved down there when my FIL retired from the police force.  My husband and I used to visit them often and took our children.  Things have changed alot since then, and now medical reasons prevent us from going there.  They are a Third World Country. (Don't ask me what it means, or why our son's Dr. does not want  him to go there , but let's just say I feel safer here).  It has been 7 years, and where my In-laws live, things are getting better.  I still would be leary of buying food from street vendors (they have a tons of those), drinking any water, using ice in your beverages, or having your food prepared with or cleaned with any water. Safety first, and a baby's digestive track is much more delicate than ours.

The Little Swimmer swim diapers from Huggies work great for the swimming pool, and are only for swimming purposes.  I find out the hard way that they are not meant to hold urine.  (I called the company to find out why they seemed to leak so often Embarassed).  Will the swimming pool be heated?  April is not typically a super warm month in Mexico.  I think last year in April the average temperature was only 72 degrees.  It is a little cold for swimming, at least for a baby.

One other thing, not to scare you, but don't travel there at night.  It is not very safe.  When you are planning on heading there or heading back home, make sure you give yourself  plenty of time to get to the border while it is still light out.

I guess the short of this long post is, bring some of your own food and tons of water...some restaurants are great places to visit, and safe to eat at.  Manny's is a wonderful little place and we always ate there.  JJ's Cantina is also another great place.  My In-Laws have been friends with the owners of these restaurants for years, and it has always been safe to eat anything off of the menu's at either location.

 Have fun.Smile

Great article Keri!  I also was unaware of the "layering" technique when you receive a deep cut.  I  absolutely LOVED the "Stupid hurts", so true, so true! Smile
