You definately have to keep that in mind and be realistic and aware of your neighborhood. We are updating our kitchen currently, we are not getting granite although we would love it, it does not make sense in the nieghborhood. With every apect of renovating you have to think about whether it makes sense in that neighbrohood. Treat it as a stepping stone and not your dream home. This is great advice! On a side note...when we starting building our home, we were realistic when deciding which upgrades we wanted now, and which ones we could do later ourselves. The homebuilder offered incentives which included a swimming pool or an allowance for upgrades. We opted for the money for upgrades which included construction. We used the allowance to add square footage on to the home that we wouldn't be able to do at a later time. We did end up getting a pool & spa, but we were able to build one very inexpensively and got more for our money doing it later with a different company. We are using our home for an investment for our future. When our children grow up, move out, and start families of their own, I don't suppose we will need all this room. Then hopefully our home will have appreciated enough so that we can purchase a smaller place with little to no mortgage. At least, that's the plan right now. LOL! Less is BEST!

My Favorite hobby is Genealogy... I have always been interested in this. How do you go about getting started? Is it expensive? Do you have to know alot of information already? Just curious... Less is BEST!
RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 7 months ago I would recommend having the doctor check again and make sure that it is not amniotic fluid. The same thing happened to me with 2 different pregnancies. The first time, I just felt like I had to use the restroom like a million times, but it just didn't look quite right to me. I had to wear a pad because I initially thought that my bladder was leaking...turned out it was a slow leak of amniotic fluid. That was my 2nd pregnancy and I was already overdue. The second time it happened, I had been in bed sleeping and I thought I had wet the bed. I got up and used the restroom and seemed fine, and then went to the laundry room, (had to wash some sheets now) and it happened again right on the floor. I hadn't ever had my water break without the Doctors help, so I didn't realize that is what was happening. I wasn't even due for 6 more weeks, so I really thought that I was just wetting myself. I was put into the hospital, because so much of the fluid was already gone, and they actually tried putting saline back up there...not pleasant btw...everything turned out okay, and apparently you can go for a little while with little fluid, or so that was what they told me at the time. Sorry the post is so long... wasn't trying to scare you with my story...just think you should have the doc check again to be safe. I'll keep you in my thoughts. Best wishes.... Less is BEST!

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 7 months ago This is actually going to be the first year in 5 years that we are taking a family vacation. I am totally excited and so are the children! Hubby...not so much. I think he believes vacation is just for relaxing, although with 4 kids there really wouldn't be much relaxing going on no matter where we went. At any rate, he is the only one who ever gets to take vacations, so this year at least the rest of us will enjoy doing something fun. We have been invited to attend Kids'n'Cancer at Camp Agape up in Lakeside, AZ. The camp is filled with so many amenities! Including being handicap accesible. We will also get the opportunity to spend time with other families like us...families that have a child that was/is diagnosed with cancer. We have already had the opportunity to meet some of them this week during registration night. All of the kids, siblings included, had such a blast! My teenage daughter is really excited about going, even after she found out that NO electronics of any kind including cell phones can be brought to camp (not even for the bus ride). LOL! I LOVE it! Quality family time. I'm thinking hubby is going to be miserable. LOL! He is not used to spending that much time with us. I think we should have a blast! This vacation is going to be so memorable for all of us.

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 6 months ago I see my Mom all the time. I talk to her everyday on the phone, sometimes twice, (three or four times if we forgot to tell each other something Most recently, my parents came for dinner at our house so that we could play Bingo and have pasta. We always have a great time together. Today, we are taking my Mom and Dad out to the movies and to lunch for Mother's Day. Then tomorrow we are meeting them to go out for our eldest daughter's 16th birthday dinner, their treat. My parents do everything together, it is so cute. When Mom wanted to take a drive to California to go shopping at the outlets, she had Dad drive all of us girls. Just my eldest daughter came with us since the drive takes over 4 hours. It was a blast! She is already talking about going back again. We get together for all of the holiday's, birthday's, and we all go to the movies together whenever a good "kids" movie comes out. If my parents are on our side of town to run errands, they always stop over to see us and will stay until our last child gets home from school and visit. I also color my Mom's hair for her every couple months, so both my parents come together and Dad plays with the kids. My Mom is the best! Less is BEST!
RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 6 months ago We have homework everynight here. With 4 children and only one capable of doing her own homework without my help, it takes me several hours to get it all finished. I totally understand why homework is assigned. I don't really like it, but I get it. LOL! I do enjoy seeing the progress that my children are making and watching them as their little minds are trying to find the answers. Both my kindergartner and 2nd grader get packets of homework which are due at the end of the week. I like that I have the option of having them do the work all at one time or a little bit each night. My kindergartner loves to do hers the second she gets the packet. She LOVES homework! My 2nd grader, on the other hand, doesn't enjoy it at all, but is really smart and can get most of the work done by himself. Occasionally he has a few questions, especially since the homework packet that is given out has things in it he hasn't learned at school yet. My 7th grader (special needs) gets homework every night. Several sheets that he can not do all by himself. Besides being exhausted from his long day, he gets frustrated when he can't remember what to do. Many times after school he has fallen asleep with the pencil in his hand trying to do his work. I love his teacher and think that she is challenging him in so many areas. Just watching him learn, when we were told he may not be able to, is inspiring. My biggest frustration in the homework area...2nd grade projects. Ugh! These were assigned every month. They absolutely could not be completed with out an adult's help and without several purchases from the store. The projects always suggested using items from home, but we just didn't have stuff like that laying around. Who has poster boards in their closets? or costumes of President's for their children to wear? better yet, teach the class "how to" do something and bring enough for all 30 students? These got just a little expensive. At any rate, school will be out in just a couple of days and I am looking forward to a few months with no homework. Less is BEST! |
