When they do come up to visit, they see the kids usually once as they are busy with their friends who still live here. My parents live about a half and hour away. I talk to them everyday and we get together often. My children are very close to them and enjoy spending time with them. :0) Less is BEST!

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 7 months ago When we decided to buy our first house, we were practical. The home we purchased was reasonable and at the time only $50.00 more a month than the rent we were currently paying. I believe that is the problem with today's society. We all want what we can't afford, so we stretch ourselves to the limit. Believe me, we have occasionally been there with my hubby's boats, motorcycles, and cars. (And yes, all plural...many many many purchases). We stayed in that home several years and then decided to upgrade to a larger house to accomodate our growing family. Again, we stayed practical and purchased a home that was affordable and within our budget. When our family doubled in size, we had to do some serious looking to find a house that was reasonable, in a good neighborhood, and within the school district that would benefit our special needs child. Funny thing, or not so funny, we had our home built, so when our current home sold we had to find a rental for a few months. Guess what? we couldn't find an apartment to rent that didn't cost MORE than our new mortgage was going to be. All of the apartments were over $400.00 more! Ridiculous! Luckily my parents were generous enough to let us move in to their home for 4 months. That was the best experience ever for us and our children. Renting might be fine for some, but it didn't work well for us after our family expanded to 6. When we were young and newlyweds though, it was great! Less is BEST!

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 7 months ago We have silly nick names for the kids. Really they are just terms of endearment and they fit the kids personalities. We have started to call our youngest Benella Jane...don't ask me why, but she is just so cute and we giggle when we say it. The other day, she was doing something that she wasn't supposed to be doing, and I called out fairly sternly "Benella Jane!", she casually replied "No answer". LOL! As if that wasn't her name so she wasn't going to respond. Too funny! I could hardly be mad after that. Luckily she stopped what she was doing. Less is BEST! |
