LOL!Laughing

I vote Skipper.

I am not big fan of either Clinton or Obama.  I do like Ron Paul though...did some research on him and found that I liked what he represents.  I still need more time to make up my mind.

I like to multi-task while on the phone. I often find myself doing the chores that I dread the most while having conversations with my friends.  Makes the time so much more fun!Smile

My Mom always told me I could tell her anthing and she wouldn't be judgemental.  Some things were really hard to discuss and others I kept to myself because I was just too embarrassed.  I tell my eldest daughter that she can talk to me about anything.  For the most part, I think that she does and I always listen.  That is such an important part of being a parent....listening to what our children have to say.

The recipes look easy to make and minus the breastmilk/formula, they would be great for anybody.  I made the warming turkey stew.  I had to change an ingredient or two based on what I had in the house, but it was so good!  I haven't ever had a plantain before...not sure I even know what that is...thinking it is the banana looking thing, but not sure. LOL!Laughing

I am a non-smoker and so is my hubby.  I enjoy that restaurants are now smoke free, but do feel that there should be some designated location for smokers.

Just because I don't like it, doesn't mean that those that do shouldn't enjoy the priviledge of indulging if they want. It is a personal choice. Smile

Wow!  Awesome article.

I can totally relate to The Fear.  I, as a parent, have been there before.  No amount of time can make you forget.  You just try and make the best of everyday and appreciate the life, love, & laughter that is right in front of you, living for the moment.Smile

Once in grade school, my sister thought it would be funny to beat me up.  I wasn't laughing.  Sibling rivalry!Laughing

I don't remember getting into fights as I got older, although hubby says I am pretty good with words. Wink

Fun question!

I have won a radio contest, been interviewed on television, & my son has been featured on television,  on the news and in the newspaper many times.

It is nerve wrecking!Smile

All of my children went back to school this week.  I was not really all that excited about it.  We are now back in the swing of things...homework, packing lunches, and car pool.  I really enjoyed my two weeks without having to do those chores.Smile

Every one of my children came home with homework yesterday, one even had a project to work on.  I lasted about 2 hours with homework duty before I called on hubby for a much needed break....just before my meltdown. LOL!Laughing

I have been back at work for a week now and I LOVE it!  That is the one thing that I look forward to every week. :0)

My sister and I had alot of chores that we were responsible for when we were younger.  We were paid for chores that were considered "extra".  Folding & putting away laundry, washing & brushing the dogs, & pulling weeds.  Most of those chores earned you anywhere from .10-.25 cents.

My children are responsible for many chores as well.  We had agreed to a fee schedule, to start at the beginning of this year, but we still have to sit down and go over it again.  The youngest kids have the opportunity to earn $1.00 a week.  They have chores that they are expected to do w/o being paid...making bed, cleaning their rooms, & putting away their laundry.  Then there are the chores I consider "extra"...emptying dishwasher, taking out garbage, washing dishes, vaccuuming & a few others.  These are all the chores that I was doing before I went back to work.  I am happy that so far they have been willing to perform their chores without too much complaint, and they haven't been paid yet.Embarassed  I have to get on that and quick!Laughing  Time for a family meeting...

I gained a different amount with each one of my 4 pregnancies...between 25-65 pounds.

To help me lose the additional pregnancy pounds, and after I stopped nursing, I started eating less and walking several nights a week.Smile

Product Recalls: Lamps, Pacifiers, Electric Motors, Coin Banks
01-10-2008 2:28 PM
By The Associated Press

(Associated Press) --  The following recalls have been announced:

_About 90,000 Portfolio Incandescent Torchiere Lamps, imported by L G Sourcing Inc. and made by Field Smart Lighting Co. Ltd. in China, because a short circuit in the wiring can pose a fire hazard. L G Sourcing has received two reports of lamp fires but no injuries. The recalled lamp has a black steel frame and a bowl-shaped light fixture. The recall lamps, with the UL listing number E246506, were sold at Lowe's stores nationwide from March 2005 through October 2007. Details: by phone at 866-916-7233; by Web at http://www.lowes.com or http://www.cpsc.gov

_About 45,000 "BabyTown" pacifiers, imported by Shims Bargain Inc. and made in China, because the pacifier shield is too small and could get into an infant's mouth. Also, the ventilation holes are too small and cannot allow a tool to remove the pacifier if it became lodged in the mouth. Finally, the package does not display the required warning instructing consumers not to tie a pacifier around a child's neck. No injuries or incidents have been reported. The recalled pacifiers, with the model No. 39864, were sold in a four-pack of assorted colors at Dollar stores nationwide from March 2004 through last month. Details: by phone at 866-540-3334; by Web at http://www.cpsc.gov.

_About 6,300 Whole-house Exhaust Fan Electric Motors, made in Mexico by A.O. Smith Electrical Products Co., because the electric motor can be incorrectly wired and overheat. No incidents or injuries have been reported. The recalled motors, included with exhaust fans, were sold at home improvement stores or by professional installers or builders from February through November last year. Details: by phone at 866-567-3878; by Web at http://www.aosmithmotors.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

_60,000 Tinker Bell lamps, made in Hong Kong by Kash N' Gold Ltd., because the surface paint on the lamps contains high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by children. A Tinker Bell figure is attached to the lamp and music plays when the light switch or demo button is pressed. The lamps were sold at electronic and appliance stores nationwide, including Lowe's, from January through October last year. Details: by phone at 800-354-8785; by Web at http://www.kngamerica.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

_About 1,300 fish coin banks, distributed by TJ Promotions and made in China, because surface paint on the coin banks contains high levels of lead. The recalled coin bank is shaped as a fish and colored orange with white stripes. The coin banks were provided as a gift to Coastal Federal Credit Union members in North Carolina from February 2006 through September 2007. Details: by phone at 866-742-2493; by Web at http://www.tjpromo.com or http://www.cpsc.gov

I LOVE the XY Files too!  It is great to get a man's perspective.  Parenting is a tough job.  One that takes a great amount of patience.

For the most part, I feel have have very well behaved kids.  Oh, don't get me wrong, they have their moments, but they are good listeners, direction followers, and very respectful (most of the time).  Occasionally,  they need the little reminder, you know the one..."Be nice"...it does the trick. Laughing

I do not think I have ever told my children to "focus", LOL, I wonder if the younger ones would even know what that means!  I do use a technique on my eldest son that seems to work quite well....he has a few special needs and often finds himself upset or losing control...I have him take a deep breath and count to 10 until he can calm himself down...sometimes he needs to count a few times.  Usually by the time he is done counting he has a smile on his face and he feels better.  It works for him, and gets him "focused"!LOL!Laughing
