RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago Forgot to mention that Gene Simmons Family Jewels in not what I would consider "family friendly". We don't let our children watch that show. They did however watch Little People Big World with us yesterday. There aren't any family shows that we watch together. We used to all watch Survivor as a family...hubby called it must see viewing, but since his hours changed he isn't home until after 7pm. antygamma...Gene Simmons is on Monday nights. I really don't know when Little People is on, we just happened to catch some episodes yesterday during their marathon. Less is BEST!

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago I probably don't pamper myself often enough, and I didn't use to have any free time. Since school started, I have a few hours each day to do whatever I desire. I usually use the time wisely to get a few chores done or run errands. I plan on taking some time this week to give myself a pedicure and read a book. I love reading, anything and everything, so now is my chance to take time out for myself. It has been a long time coming...15 years...I am totally ready for me time!Less is BEST!
RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago Sometimes you just have to ask for help. I have felt the way you are feeling on one occasion or another. Especially since my hubby is the only one of us that ever takes vacations, and I am the one to stay home and take care of everything around the house including the children. First off, do something really special for yourself on your birthday. Whatever your heart desires...and don't let the fact the hubby is out of town ruin your day. Sometimes they (meaning hubbys) do things that hurt us without realizing that they are hurtful. Second, are there other kids that you know whose parents can help take your children to their games? This might not be the ideal situation for you, but sometimes you have just got to give in and let some of your stress go and getting help from friends just for this one time might really lighten your load. Lastly, take a deep breath, relax, take a bath, or do something to give yourself some quiet time at the end of each day after your children go to bed. It will give you the chance to unwind and relax, and start your next day refreshed. Wishing you the best and sending *hugs* your way. Less is BEST!

Ok. Why dont we just wrap our kids up in bubble wrap so they all dont get hurt. Depends on where that bubble wrap is made. That might not be to safe either. Less is BEST!
RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago Everyone has some really great suggestions. I also wanted to just add that most baby clothes, besides being grown out of quickly, do shrink up when they are dried in a dryer. My eldest son was 8 lbs at birth, not really all that big, but after washing and drying some of his newborn pants (he was a winter baby) they had shrunk up so much that they didn't fit anymore. I say...plan for several onsies for during the daytime and have some receiving blankets, burb cloths, and a bib or two handy for feedings. Also an extra change of pj's always ready and clean for that middle of the night mishap is a great idea. Better safe than sorry....especially at 2am! Less is BEST!

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago School is different for each one of my children. My eldest is in HS and she enjoys the socialization of school and seeing her friends. She is an excellent student and can be found doing homework or studying after she gets home from swim practice. She is a terrific athlete...something I never expected from this child. LOL! My eldest son has a severe learning disability due to being OHI, school is difficult for him, but he never complains. I would say, since he is an absolute chatter box, that school is a great tool from him to interact with his peers. He is in the 7th grade and is his schools Student Council Historian. This is a big step for him this year, and I hope to see him grow tremendously. For my youngest son and daughter who are in the lower grades, 2nd and Kindergarten, the whole "school thing" is fairly new still and they are just getting used to going all day every day. This is what we are adjusting ourselves to this year with my daughter. My son is an excellent student and always tries his hardest. Same with my daughter who, so far, is really enjoying going to school each day. They ride the bus home together and see this as a huge treat. Thankfully I get a slight break from carpool this year and I am enjoying not waiting in the pick up line for an hour to retrieve my kiddos. I believe that there is more peer pressure to fit in and to be popular than ever before...mostly for high school. My eldest daughter hasn't really been faced with this because the school she attends was new last year when she was a freshman and they were the only class. Now they have only freshman and sophmores (her class) so she will always be the upper classman. Of course there are the popluar kids, the ones that smoke, brag about drinking on the weekends, and the ones that come to school that have been getting high. Different times from when I was a kid. We talk to her about the dangers and have an open line of communication always. Non judgemental communication...that is the best kind. Less is BEST!
RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago Too funny! Yes, it is always nice to get that well deserved night out. I am typically the designated driver. Hubby isn't a big drinker, rarely if ever to we go out and get alcoholic beverages...diet coke is our guilty pleasure. Nothing like a fountain drink with free refills! Less is BEST!

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago I don't think that you are over reacting at all. As stated in a previous post, we are the protectors of our children. If they are injured at school, home, or at a friends house, we want to get the details. It just what parents do. It could be something simple, allergies, a virus (pink eye is a totally common one that is easily spread at school), or something accidental. If your child is covering up for someone else and doesn't want to get anyone else in trouble, maybe you could just talk to her and reassure her that she can always tell you if something happens without you being upset or angry with her. Kids respond better to situations when they are not fearful of getting into trouble. I think you should certainly let the teacher know about her eye. I am not a teacher, but I know how very busy they are with a large classroom full of students, and would guess that they can't have their eyes on every child for every minute of the day. Luckily, your daughter is old enough to be truthful and actually tell you if something happens to her or to alert her teacher. I hope all goes well with whatever you decide to do. Less is BEST!
