I saw this pill on the news the other night.  I was never a big fan of taking the  birth control pill.  First off, while taking it I got pregnant with my first child.  Secondly, when they increased the dose so that I wouldn't get pregnant while taking it the second time, I had such severe side effect...nausea, headache, etc, that I was unable to get off of my couch for a week.  I don't have to worry about it now.  Although, I have been told many times that just because my tubes are tied, that doesn't mean I am unable to get pregnant again. Wink  If that is God's plan for me...BRING it ON!Smile

We have a VERY large breed mixed dog (German Shepherd, Rhodesian Ridgeback, and English Labrador).  My daughter adopted her (with our permission) from Halo Animal Rescue.  She is by far the BEST dog ever!  She was about 2 years old when we got her, and now we have had her for  2 1/2 years.  She is very gentle, despite her size, and is very loving.  She is like one of the kids.Smile

This story makes me wonder Undecided, what are they not telling us?  I happened to have just recently been informed that a 5 year old kindergartner at my child's school has been suspended for inappropriate sexual behavior.  I was shocked!Surprised  What would a five year old girl have said or done to get her suspended!?! This was apparently her 3rd infraction which resulted in a 1 week at home suspension. The stories that are surfacing (and they are still just hearsay as far as I am concerned) seem to be all the same and if they are true I would not want her around my child.  The fact of the matter remains, that I do not have all the facts, and the things that I have been told, are just second hand information.

Sometimes the media doesn't get all the information correct either.  My family has personally been victims of misinformation by the press, and it wasn't pretty.Frown  Nothing like getting hate mail, while sitting at your son's hospital bedside anxiously waiting to find out if his brain cancer is going to claim his life.

All the information in the story, may or may not be completely correct.  Hopefully, the family can get the situation resolved, and not do any harm to the 4 year old boy.  You wouldn't think that a 4 year old would have any idea what inappropriate sexual behavior was, but you never know what he has been exposed to outside the school setting.  I can't imagine that the parents would admit any wrong doing even if something was going on in their home.  Hopefully a complete investigation will result in a happy outcome for all involved.

 Just my two cents....Smile

Also, I agree with you totally...the teacher should have taken the child aside immediately, and there should have been a conference set up with the parents.  Since this does not appear to be what happened, a complete investigation (IMO) would be appropriate, so that if the child is innocent, everything could be removed from his record.

I took a Child Birthing class with only my first pregnancy.  I was a couple months from my due date, and found the Lactation Consultant information very helpful.  That is also where I found my Pediatrician.  He was a wonderful speaker and answered eveyone's questions.  He is still our children's doctor after over 14 years and 4 babies.Smile He has been through alot with our family.  Despite moving across town, we still use him.  My husband attended the classes with me, and did get a little embarrased by the videos that were shown. It was still helpful information, and it was nice to know what to expect.  I didn't feel the need to take the classes with the last 3 babies.  I had already "been there, done that".Wink  I personally did not find the breathing technique helpful at all, and after almost 40 hours of labor before my first child, I was just about ready to break.  Thank goodness for epidurals!  I did go through labor for my next two babies, but emergency C-Sections ended up being performed.  My last pregnancy, the C-Section was scheduled.  What a piece of cake!  I would do it again that way in a heart beat!Smile

I completely agree with you!Smile  I did get my information second hand, and as I mentioned earlier, it is not always right.  I hadn't heard what was going to be done,(psychologist visits or some type of counseling couldn't hurt) but I know that they have had several meetings with the Principal, and the suspension was what they considered the last alternative.  I certainly hope that both of these children will get the help that they need, because as you mentioned, their school careers have just begun.

Well, Sunday is winding down, and almost over.  Our family had a wonderful afternoon at the dog park and met some friends there.  I was able to get all my chores done, and that is always a good thing.Smile  I like the start of a new week, and as Christmas is approaching, I find myself more and more in the spirit.

Tonight, I am having to keep my 12 year old son up until as late as possible...it is after 11pm now, and I will need to wake him up no later than 4am for an EEG test that he is having at Phoenix Children's Hospital.  They are going to find out if he is having seizures, and he needs to be sleep deprived.  I think that we both are going to be sleep deprived tomorrow...I hope that I don't have another brilliant parenting moment and not recognize my child again!  That was soooo embarassing!Embarassed  He is standing right here with me while I am typing this post and chatting a mile a minute!  For someone who usually goes to bed around 7pm  (we have to really keep him up just to make it to 7pm) he seems to be full of energy this evening!  I sure hope he is nearly as happy to get up in 4 hours! LOL!

Well, I hope everyone had a great Sunday!  I am looking forward to a wonderful week!Smile

I personally have to work hard on having more patience with all of my children. We have been trying hard to be positive all the time, and to make sure that our eldest daughter sets a good example for the younger children.  I do find that sometimes, I just need to take a "time out", and remove myself from a frustrating situation.  I learned something valuable that was told to us by my son's doctors. Since his brain surgery, he occasionally had violent outbursts, his doctor told us to tell him "Calm down, and count to 10".  If he wasn't feeling calmer, he should count to 10 again until he started feeling better.  I must say, this does work.  When I find myself frustrated with someone's behavior, or if I find my children are just not listening, I take a break, count to 10, and try a new approach.  This has helped our son tremendously, and I have found that it works for me also.Smile

Being a parent is hard work, and our children just can't be perfect all the time.  In our home, the great, funny, & sweet moments are the times we cherish.Smile

Best of Luck to you.

I read this article and thought Lisa was talking about my experience!Smile

I agree that we want the photos for our own benefit.  I have several photos of myself,  holding my children, while sitting on Santa's lap.  I certainly learned my lesson after the first two children.  We have not been to a mall to see Santa in over 6 years!  Now, that isn't to say that we haven't seen Santa.  The Make-a-Wish Foundation has their annual Christmas Party, complete with a Santa, and my children have see him there several times.   They all did great, especially both of my younger children.  They watched their older brother talk to Santa, sit on his lap and tell him what he would like for Christmas, and they just followed along.  On one of the years, my son was to ill to go to the Christmas Party, so Santa actually got our number through Make-a-Wish, (with our permission), and came to our home to see him. My youngest child was 16 months old, (now she is 4) and she still talks about Santa being in her house and sitting on his lap.  She also wonders when he is coming back.  I still haven't figured out how I am going to explain to her that Santa won't be coming to have his picture taken with us this year! LOL.

I don't think anyones's opinion is either right or wrong.  That is why it is an opinion.  Every person is entilted to feel how they feel.  So, if you don't have a problem with same sex marriage, than it is nobody else's business to make you feel any different.  I have personal beliefs that I would not impose on other people.  It is how I feel, how I was raised, and what I believe is right for me.

Just my two cents...Smile

Those were great tips for keeping our children safe online!Smile

Luci...it sounds like you only have your children's best interest at heart.  Keeping them safe is a parents number one priority, and you are doing a great job!Smile

We have only one computer that has internet access, so since my husband and I need it for everything from work to paying bills, we no longer allow our children to use it without us.  It is just for their safety and ours, and after the last blue screen of death incident (computer just crashed), we have decided this way will have to work for a while.

We had purchased a Wireless Broadband Router, but neither one of us is computer savvy, so the extra computer is just sitting for the time being.

Losing a child was always my biggest fear.Frown  Then when I came close to losing one,  I had to put my faith in God that  things would be ok.

It certainly gave me a whole new perspective on LIFE...it's a beautiful thing!Smile
