RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago Everyone's advice is really good. I agree with all of the posts. Having a child does change your life. It is a wonderful experience. Remember, this is your life and your fiance's life, the two of you need to make these types of choices as a unit. Personally, I don't think that 22 is too young to have a child. I got engaged at 19, married when I was 20 and 7 months later was pregnant with my first child. My eldest DD was born after my 21st birthday. Was I ready? That is hard to say...I love being a Mom, it is so wonderful, but nothing like what I expected. As my 4 children have grown, I am learning how to be a great Mom, I think I am getting a hang of things, I certainly know what I am doing now!Less is BEST!

My youngest DD still sucks on her two fingers, and we have used hand sanitizer before. I will be throwing it out and putting more wet wipes in my purse and car.

RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago I am not sure there is a specific moment when I realized that I had this Motherhood thing under control. It has been a learning experience through every faze. I jumped into parenthood without even looking, and in the beginning, I was doing everything possible to stay afloat. After baby #2 came along, I certainly knew better what to do, and that was when DH and I decided I would be a SAHM. That in itself was a whole new road untraveled. Every one of my 4 pregnancies were not planned events. My DH's accident, our son's illness, and baby #3 threw us off course and had me looking for the brakes. Learning to balance all of that took some time and just when I thought I had things under control, I was pregnant with baby #4, we decided we were moving, and DH was finally going back to work. Wow! So So So glad that those hectic times are behind us. Life is good now. My Mom is always telling me what a great Mother I am, and how well I handle everything. I value her opinion, she is a wonderful woman. God blessed me and I learned from the best.Less is BEST!

You brought an awareness to me that I was able to share with my children about something I knew nothing about. My eldest DD has shared hats and combs with fellow students a dozen times! Your information can only help others. Thank you for having the courage to share it. I am so PROUD of you! This site has the most supportive people I have ever come in contact with. Although I do not know exactly what you are going through, I can only imagine how frustrating and overwhelming this whole entire process has been. I will continue to send positive thoughts your way! RMOMROXJoined: 11/08/06 Posts: 1285 | Posted: 1 years ago I never remember a time where I escaped any type of punishment. I was the oldest by thirteen months, so I always got that famous line parents give their children..."You're older, you should have known better!"...We were always told that if we would just tell the truth, we wouldn't get in trouble. I wish my sister would have listened. She got herself in heaps of trouble when we were kids, when she was considered "old enough" to know right from wrong. I had a great relationship with my parents and they trusted me. I didn't want to break their trust or have them be disappointed in me. I try and use this at home with my children. So far it is working well, but things are different now then they were when I was a teenager, so I guess we will just see how things go with my eldest daughter. Parenthood is such a learning experience!Less is BEST!

Great story! Here's my story... My eldest daughter started HS last year. It is a new school, so only Freshman were attending. During orientation, we were told that if your child wanted to play a sport of any kind, this was the year to sign them up. They had a policy that anyone that wanted to play would be able to play, there would be no "making" the team so to speak. There was a fee to play, but one fee would allow your child to play in any/all sports for the entire school year. My daughter chose the swim team. She loves the water and really enjoys swimming, but had never been on a team. After the 1st meeting, she came back to the car all upset. They were informed that it was a Swim/Dive team, and she does not like diving! She has taken a diving class before and just didn't like it. She wanted to quit! Well, after the 1st week, she was in LOVE! She didn't have to participate in diving, that was only if you wanted to do both activities. She learned so much and improved all of her strokes and times. She earned her Varsity Letter in a Relay and earned herself a position at the State Championships! She is already looking forward to being on the swim team this year. I am so proud of her! I don't like dishes left in my sink, but I guess I really don't mind washing them. Laundry, although I have a ton, is made into a game over here, and all the kids (minus DH...and YES, I consider him one of the kiddos!) have to help. Each child has their own laundry to put away and they have to help seperate out the socks and underwear. The "Laundry Fairy" game always gets a giggle out of everyone, so we try and have fun with it. On the other hand, I really do enjoy vacuuming, I just don't like all the dog hair, and I don't want anybody using my vacuum! Less is BEST! |
