My name is Michelle, I am a WAHM of 2 daughters, Megan (2) and Madelyn (4 months). My DH and I own a duplex in Wisconsin but live close enough to Minnesota that we are considered part of the Twin Cities Metro Area, DH even works in MN and our vet's office is in MN, amoung other things. Although we are looking to move to Colorado in the next year or sooner.

I love using coupons for things and finding good deals. I am currently trying to figure out Once A Month Cooking, any ideas here please feel free to share them ;)

I am a quilter, and that is part of my business, I make quilt kits, quilt tops and finished quilts and sell them on eBay. Quilting is a passion of mine and I am a fabric-aholic. I am learning to crochet and am stuck on a turning stitch, I just can't seem to get it to work right.

My other hobbies include gardening, new at this also. Baking, not so new at this but open to new ideas and recipes *hint hint* I am a writer, I have one thing published, nothing too big just a couple of sentences in a magazine but I am proud of it none the less Smile and I am working on a short story. We are also archers, target shooters, and hunters and we pretend to be fishers but the last time any one caught a fish was by pure accident and I think it was the dog, lol.

I have many different interests, although I haven't done them yet. I'd love to learn to kayak, rock climb, draw and paint and many others I just can't think of right now.

I mentioned a dog, we actually have two terrier mixes. One was a stray and the other was bought as a friend to the stray who I thought needed a friend, as it turns out he just likes to sleep a lot and the new dog might need a friend Smile

I am looking forward to meeting new people and getting to know some of you. I think of myself as friendly but until I get the lay of the land I probably won't be posting much in the next week or so. I like to click on things to see where they lead me so I will be playing with all the new buttons and such Smile So far this looks like a fun board.

I am new here and I was looking around and I just can't seem to figure out the 'rep' thing and the points and ratings and such. How do you get points? Is there more then on way? What are the points for? TIA. Smile

Megan does the same thing. It is so frustrating some times I feel like I just have to scream. We are trying to limit her "Go Movie" (Cars) and that is making life miserable. Today I had the idea of getting a huge white board and making a chore/reward chart. I'll put all our names on the chart with a sharpie so we can erase but still keep our lines and names. I'll hang it at Megan's level so she can mark her own rewards off (with our help of course, since she can't read yet). I know for her she needs to be involved and feel in control of the situation. I am hoping that works but again this is just an idea I had today Undecided

I am going to love hearing what others have to say.

We are doing fine here. So far today has been nice, humid but nice, we even got in some fishing on the St.Croix. I hope everyone else is doing alright.

In August we are taking a 10 day trip to Colorado. We will be driving down which is about a 24 hour trip. Our 2 year old and at the time 7 month old will be coming with us. I am afraid they will be fussy the whole trip and get bored in the car for that long. Any ideas to make the trip go smoothly? We have never taken a really long trip like this before with either of the girls. The longest we have gone was 3 hours. I am and will be nursing Madelyn then and even though we do supplement now with formula, I can't go that long without nursing her (6 hours and I start to hurt). Because of that we will be stopping a lot on the way so I can feed her but I can't expect them to sleep the whole trip. :-/ Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

Megan will be starting preschool in the fall of 2009. DH and I are going to CO this summer to look at houses, and visit preschools and (crosses fingers) DH goes to some interviews. What should I look for in a preschool? Any specifics to keep an eye out for? How much should a preschool cost a week/month? An CO mommies out there that can give me any advice?

I don't know that there is anyway to tell her with out making her feel bad. I think you are just going to have to tell her and let her deal with the news in her own way. I think if she had a problem with your last pregnancy then she will have a problem with this one as well and that is hard on you but you can't help that you get pregnant easily just as she can't help that she can't get prego as easily. This news is good news try not to let her reaction bring you down.

DH and I are looking to move into the Colorado Springs area and will be there in August to look at houses, check out preschools and such. What can you tell me about the area? Is there anywhere we should go see while we are there? Any info would be great. TIA Smile

Thanks ladies for the tips. I have written them down so I can ask when I talk to the preschool directors and teachers. Anyone else want to add their thoughts and opinions?

Thanks for the advice. The portable DVD player is a good idea. I don't think Megan will keep head phones on, but she can watch Cars and Word World the whole way. I think I will try and stop at some parks on the way down too so she can go play and swing and run and such while I feed Madelyn or a McDs playland or something.

Thanks for all the advice. I guess I never really thought about just popping in, I didn't even ask if I would need an appointment I just called and told them we'd be in town. Since we are going to be in CO in August and not during the school year I figured I'd call and make sure someone would be there.  The school I did call has a website and from what I read and the pics they had up it looks like a good school, but I still need to see it in person. KWIM. The other schools don't have web sites Frown

Any suggestions? I have to keep my calorie count up to keep up my milk supply but I gained so much weight with both pregnancies and I'd like to try and take most of it off. I just don't know how to do it with out reducing my milk supply and being unhealthy for Madelyn.

If I can't figure out how to loose weight now it will be another year or more until I can get on a decent diet to loose the weight.

I tried the YOU on a diet book, but it says to cut down on a calorie in take and gives no advice for nursing moms. It will work if I am not nursing but I just can't bring myself to give up nursing just to look better, kwim?

I can't run or jog since I have a very bad ankle, which I just hurt again, and I can't really walk long distances. Short of just doing sit ups I am just at a total loss for any exercises. When I was 23 this wasn't an issue, lol.

So does anyone know of anything that works to take off the pregnancy weight?
