OK, I am a purse hound and have spent $300+ on purses before.  HOWEVER, I was over 30, it was my own money and I would never expect anyone to buy me one.

I remember being in 8th grade and wanting to be in style, however to ask my mother and father or grandparents to spend $100 on something was out of the question.

It is all about values that your sister have taught your niece.  My kids are so cost consious that they look at prices before they pick anything out.  My sister took all 3 of my kids shopping when in IL, bought them all clothes becuase the Walmart was closing, and Super Walmart opening and they were not transferring anything from store to store.  Everything was under $5, my sister spent $45-50 on each kid and they came home with a boat load.

I have enstilled in my kids - if you want it, you work for it

I would try it, if you get all your the answers to your satisfaction.  If it would be in alls best interest to have him in the same school and there will be no difference, then by all means do it!  Think of the time it will save you to be at one school, instead of between the two.

Talk to your son also, see what his feelings are.  Will some of his friends from his previous class be at this school?

There is alot to weigh out, but until you get your answers then I would hold off.

At first your mom may feel like you are ganging up on her, but I would do it as a family also.  Maybe just the siblings talk to your mom, no SIL or DIL, just you kids.

Talk to her, let her know how you feel, make her a doctor appt and go with her, maybe you telling the doctor what is really going on will help her and then he can help her.

$20 is the limit in our house also, and like Roxanna - including gift bag.  My kids also make the cards.

As for the party with gifts, most ppl do feel uncomfortable when you tell them not to bring a gift.  Instead of asking them just not to bring one, ask them to bring an inexpensive new toy to be donated to a local charity.

We do this at Christmas time, instead of swapping gifts with family and friends - we all buy toys for needy families and donate them and then make tolitries boxes for the teenagers and adults - the kids LOVE THIS!

I am a firm believer in do unto others type of things.  In the end, you are the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror.  It is better to have those means justified for the good instead of "bad"

Karma is a big thing, and it will all come back to you.

She is doing great with it so far, but granted, it has only been since April.  She still enjoys it, and gets after me know when mine get the slightest bit of stubble - it is funny!

Although we do not make it every Sunday, we still will take time to pray and talk about the bible if we do not go.

I feel that God and church keep us connected to a way of life that makes us who we are.

I believe that you do not have to go every Sunday - just believe and practice what you believe.
