KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago You did what you thought was best, and I commend you for that. When my grandmother died - Hannah was a little over 2 and Sam was 3 monts old. We took them to all of it, as that is what we did in my big Catholic family. I do not regret it at all, It taught Hannah from an early age that life is precious and to remember everyone is not here forever. We explained to her that God need Grandma Dorothy as an angel, and that she was going to be her special angel that watches over her and Sammy. To this day, she comments on her angel, Grandma Dorothy. KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago Part of the year for 2-3 months at a time my parents come from IL and live with us. I love it when they are here. Granted my hubby feel differently and enjoys them, I know sometimes he thinks it may be to long. However, I have already advised both my parents, when - God forbid - something happens to one of them, the other one will be moving to AZ with us. My kids are the youngest, and I think that would help the one that is still here. I would LOVE to have my parents with us for most of the time, and them only visit IL, instead of the way it is now. We are looking to move here within a year, and one requirement I want most of all is guest quarters, so my parents can have a place to themselves, but be in my back yard! Denise

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago I agree it is case by case. However, I do not think I would let Amanda at 6 go topless in a store, and I do not think that she would do it either. Amanda does go swimming in her boobies and shorts though. She does not like wearing a girls bathing suit, however if she goes to friend's houses she does. Denise
KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago Amanda is a big chocolate milk drinker. Hannah & Sam likes gatorade & ice tea. However, all my kids love Starbucks - decaf carmel frappacino's, iced, or hot depending on time of year. And Burger King now has Iced Mocca Joe's which for $1.99 - can't beat them and they love em.

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago My first official job was in a homemade icecream shop named "Virginia's" back home when I was 15. I loved that job. While I worked, I got all the free icecream I wanted. My favorite of all time is Butter Pecan, however Breyers has a new flavor of Fried Icecream out which is pretty good. The kids like plain ol chocolate, so they are pretty easy. However when in IL, my mom just mad ethem homemade strawberry, which they thought was right up there with chocolate.

I feel like i am out of my routine, so I am a new mommy all over again - LOL! My relaxation time is on here at MT, or just chilling on the ride wo work listening to an audio book.

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago We are a driving family - with 5 can not afford to fly, unless it is a really far distance. Even when we moved here from FL, we drove instead of taking the flying option, it was a nice trip except for the car jacking in Baton Rouge. Even with the kids being small they still remember stuff htey saw along the way. Would love to fly everywhere due to the getting there sooner, but the rental car thing - YUCK! Denise
KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago This is a trying time for all of us in the Phoenix area. I know that I always had channel 3 news on, and felt like I knew them personally, as this station really brings you into the AZFAMILY, and talks about themselves to make them seem human and not robotic. As for the police officer, this breaks my heart. This young man was going out and doing his job - one that he probably loved, becuase it is not for the money, to protect us and ends up not seeing his wife and children again. The families of the loved ones lost need our thoughts and prayers, but I do also believe as a community we need them too, to help all of us get through this.

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1374 | Posted: 1 years ago I completely agree with the role model thing - NO sports figures should not be role models - police officers, teachers, doctors, PARENTS should be role models! However the society we live in today promotes this, and with the $ that follows the status, we will continue too also. The NFL did this because of his contract - conduct unbecoming to the sport. This simple wording can allow them to do what ever they feel to what ever the feel will give them a black eye. No the dog fighting had nothing to do with his NFL career, however his actions off the field speak for the actions on the field. If he could do this and not be punished in the pocket book where it hurts him most, then it would allow other sport figures to use him as a precidence in court to get there way if they got punished in the pocketbook later.
