KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1375 | Posted: 2 yearss ago They are doing this, thinking they can go on ebay for the almighty dollar. In 1996-97 when the first "tickle" came out, I was expecting our first. I thought "Oh how cute", and picked one up - this was when they were just sitting on the shelves, beause no one had heard of them yet. Well come Christmas - still pregnant - I had someone offer me $350 for this so they could give to their kid for christmas. I knew by April when Hannah was born, I would be able to get another one, as they would be restocked. Know being a parent - it is hard when that is the one gift they ask Santa for - how do you explain to your little one X-mas morning Santa did not bring what they asked for. Me being nice - offered this to my friend and told her to buy me one after the holidays.

I do not get to make back home much either - grew up midwest IL, however was in Chi town a lot! We went back last year for a funeral as well, first time in 5 years.
It is amazing how most stay in one place they love back home - my parents still live in the same home that we moved into when I was 4, which was my dad also grew up in. I miss that!
The thing I find about going home though - is the places are still more or less the same, but it is sad that friends change, even staying in contact with them. .. Thanks for the recommendation. :D
I grew up about 1 1/2 miles from Wrigley Field(in the same tiny apartment that my mom still lives in!!!!!)

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1375 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Talk to other mother's at your work or school or friend's. I have tried both the in home and facility daycares. While I like them both - I think I like the in home day care better. The main thing is tell them you want to run a back ground check on them and all members in the house. If they refuse to give you names, dob, and other info you ask for, you knwo it is NOT a house you want to leave your child in.
Depending on the area you are in, I have a GREAT daycare in the NW Valley. My children have been with her for almost 5 years and if they can not be with me, they want to stay with her instead of me having a teenager come over to watch them.

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1375 | Posted: 2 yearss ago It is generally full proof when taken the right way - same time everyday -no matter what - if you are talking the pill. Usually when people blame the this - they were not taking it even remotely close to the time of day that they needed to. I know, as my second was one of these oops, I talked to my doctor extensively about it, wondering how was I one of those .08% that would get pregnant.

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1375 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Everyone is a critic, especially of the 80's - however bring back the preppie look is my motto. I would so much rather see my kids where the polos and jeans than what is going on.
My oldest, I am seeing the effects, she picks something up, and knows by my expression, put it back with a "To Hoochie" comment. I do not believe the age that parents start letting there kids dress this way - it is unreal. To be in style is one thing, but to be in style and still have some class is a great deal.
My rule with shorts - is they can not be shorter than where the fingertips end at full extension.
The shaving of legs in 4th grade is really what gets me - my daughter has asked for this since last year as 3 of her friends started this last year - why can't kids be kids????

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1375 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I completely agree with you Kristyn!
Parents that have problems blame other things, instead of taking a hold of the real problem. It is always easier to blame someone else instead of looking in a mirror.
We are going to Disney over Thanksgiving - and those are times where that kind of stuff is a treat to children - home is where the healthiness should start.
For one, I know my kids will not think it is the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH when mom makes them eat carrot & celery sticks there too!

KmomJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1375 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I keep telling my oldest 13, 13, 13 - except on dating and then it is 23!
Kids need to be kids - everyone puts to much stock in growing up to quickly these days. I agree with light makeup and shaving legs, and I am willing to compromise on those - but the dating rule stands . . . :D
