My parents and in-laws live all live in IL.  My parents I trust 100% to watch my kids at anytime.  However my in-laws - I WORRY 100% of the time when they are with them.

My parents respect our rules, my inlaws do not.  My husband says nothing, he would never say anything negative to his dad, and if his dad is fine with something we would not allow - then he is ok.  But if my parents did that he would FLIP!  This is a major issue with us.

My kids want to go to IL this summer, and my mom and dad want to take them, however in letting them go with my parents, they will then in turn have to be with my in-laws with me 1700+ miles away.  This makes me nervous and scared.  And I know my husband will be mad if they do not stay with his dad and step mom.

Although, I do not know much about the signs.  However, when I do read on them - I am pretty pegged by it, and so is my husband.

You are doing a wonderful job, this is going to be a tough time for you to get through.  Hang in there, and years to come he, his father, and even mother will thank you for doing all you are doing!

Getting down and talking to them eye level has worked here to.  I use to be the yeller also, and have since changed to the sitting or kneeling down and getting to their level, and we have a much better time.

I lived in Good Hope, IL from when I was born to 4 years old - small town of about 400 people.  Remeber very little - except my next door neighbors and decorating my tricycle for the parade.

From 4years - 25 years old I lived in Galesburg, IL most of the time in the house where my father grew up.  It was awesome - I loved that old house.  We did live out by the Catholic school for awhile when I was little, as my mom took care of it. 

The house where I spent most of my years backyard was connected to my grandparents.  After my other grandpa passed away, my grandma moved catty corner from my grandparents.  It was wonderful.  When I was 22, I moved into the little house next door to my grandma. 

It was a factory and railroad town, county seat - the factories have all since been lost to Mexico, and the railroad use to be one of the top 10 largest in US, now is a lot smaller.  Lots of jobs have been lost, and there are more deaths in my hometown now then births.  Really sad how it has turned around.

Since 25, I have lived in Orlando, FL - then Lakeland, FL - then Barlett, IL - then Tampa, FL and now Glendale, AZ.  All of these have been home to me jsut like my childhool home, because they have been the start of my new life with my husband and kids. 

All of these places hold a special place in my heart.

I can not believe what kids do just for fun now a days, what happened to "ding dong ditch" instead of popping pills.

Honestly, I'd rather just deal with kids wanting to smoke some pot rather than a bunch of chemically created opium based stuff.

I know this is an illegal drug, but how many cases of death has been from OD on pot?

Kids have no clue on the fact that this is a life threatening game they are playing.  They think it is fun and will never happen to me, however it happens to close to home than more parents think!

The obvious thing for me to say is my kids, however the best thing that has happened to me is my mom and dad.  They are my best friends in life - have always been there for me, and I know that until it is our time to go and beyond they will always be here.

The old saying is you can not pick your family, but if I could have I would not have done as good of job as God did by giving me to them, and them to me!
