keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I was watching on the news this afternoon and I noticed this one story about a double near-drowning in East Mesa. It was two young children who were found in a canal. If I was working today I would have gotten that call.
Anyways I looked at the location and realized that those two siblings came from a house we went on a call at 5:00am this morning for the Father. I noticed the house as the one we were at cause it was a rich fancy dancy home at the end of a cul de sac. Its a two story home and it was really beautiful.
We never transported the Father cause he just had the flu but I remember seeing a round crib in a nearby room.
I just feel like crying knowing that I was there in that home today! I know I cant do a damn thing about it (sorry for the bad word) but its so upsetting to me. I mean I am an EMT and suppose to save lives but Im also a MOM! I have two kids of my own.
The reason the kids got into the canal is that the back gate wasnt closed when the workers who were building the swimming pool. Theres a Lawsuit waiting to happen. The girl is in critical condition and the boy was responsive. Both were flown to different hospitals.
I just cant beleive it! | |

keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago For me I grew up in a household of parents that did spank. BUT I only got spanked twice in my entire life. I watched my big brother do some stupid things and he got it. I was too scared to do stupid things. I used to spank my kids but now they are older and they just loose TV or with my daughter I shut her in her room and she hates it. And with a passion.
I think its up to the individual parent/s on disapline.
More parents these days just dont care or pay much attention to thier kids and they get away with murder literally . (sometimes.)
We just have to pay more attention to our kids. And a healthy fear is a good thing.
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I fully understand everyones position on this topic.
I also agree that its the parents responsiblity to start them off right at the beginning of life. Teaching them how to share and to respect others things and self-being is the whole thing for making a well rounded human being and a productive citizen.
Golly seeing those 4 and 5 yr olds mouthing off at thier parents just floors me! If I EVER acted like that around my parents I would have been knocked across the room.
I always get compliments on my children's behavior from others but they do get mouthy at home behind the doors. But they have learned to respect others. Its an ongoing process until the kids are out of the house. Just cause you tell them to behave once doesnt mean they will remember that years down the road.
For every action there is equal and opposite reaction.
It is us as parents and adults to raise these children to be productive citizens now and as adults.
Take time out of your life to help your child.

Ya well parents are raising little princesses. Gotta dress em up in these cute adorable frilly dresses and expensive clothes. And heaven forbid if they dont get their way! LOOK OUT!
I have a daughter and she is a tomboy just like me! She isnt afraid to get dirty or to run around. She doesnt have a dress cause she doesnt like it. I have only my 15 yr old wedding dress.
People need to stop raising princesses and to raise a well rounded child.

How is the little one doing now?
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I havent gotten one ever but I am thinking about getting one this year. Only because my career changed. I am now an EMT and I am in contact with many people and I dont wanna get sick. We had a patient Monday morning call in cause he blacked out due to him having the flu. I wore a protective mask cause I didnt want to be sick.
Also I think our children that were born early or sick should have one cause thier immune system is pretty weak. Even our young children need to have it cause of that fact. I as an adult would want to have it just cause everyone is sick.
OH!!! If you do get the shot and you come up sick with the flu shortly after (days) dont blame the shot. You already were exposed to someone who had the flu/cold prior to you getting the shot. Doesnt stop the flu once you already been exposed.
Washing hands ALOT and use hand sanitizer. Buy lysol and spray doorknobs around the house and other things you come in contact with. But wash your hands.

keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Hi! What else did he have with his Tuna? Dont think I have heard of being allergic to tuna before but it doesnt mean it cant happen. There have been people allergic to shellfish. Just keep an eye on him and watch for signs of swelling, difficulty breathing or hives. If any of those happen take him the the Urgent care or ER.

keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago So sorry for not respondin lately. Been busy with work and othe projects around the house. Also been helping hubby with his painting business. I havent heard much about the little boy that survived but I found out and this goes to show you its a small world out there. My Mother inlaw's neighbor across the street is the Aunt of that little girl that died. Yes people just need to be very very careful around any source of water. They saw that an infant can drown in an inch of water. Doesnt seem like that is possible but it does happen. More or less people just dont pay attention and that child gets into the pool, toilet, tub, or even a bucket of water. A lady I heard a day or so after this little one died had her little one fall into a bucket of water and bleach. Bad enough to have water in the lungs but bleach too? Please everyone just cause summer is over doesnt mean your child cannot drown. BTW Im much better but I still think of that little girl.

keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Im not ready and usually we dont get the flu. Get the cold tho alot. Also remember that the Flu shot DOES NOT give you the flu. If you get the shot the immunization weakens you own immune system abit for a day or so before it builds back up. And if you have been exposed to the flu before hand that increase the risk of you getting sick. Chances are you have already been exposed. Wash your hands alot and use the anti-bacterial gel for the hands. Use lysol and get germ killing wipes and carry them with you in case you are out and use a phone or something. Also at the grocery stores now when you get your cart they normally have wipes USE them. Wash wash and wash again. Normally during the winter time I go OCD on handwashing. Thats why I dont get sick as much.

keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Oh if you do get sick with the Flu or cold PLEASE dont go to the Emergency room! The Doc's cant do anything for that. Unless you are elderly or an infant or someone with a comprimised immune system like HIV. They end up getting really dehydrated and that could be very harmful. But otherwise do what your Mother told you to. Rest, sip lots of fluids, take tylenol or motrin, and just REST! If you need to see a doctor make an appointment with your own Doc. Cause callin 911 to go to the hospital is EXPENSIVE! Fire dept is free cause you pay city taxes but Ambo's (except in Phx) are not. We will charge you for everything we use right down to the sheets and oxygen mask.
