It used to really help him but he was on Adderall then up until this year. I took him off of it cause in Canada children were either dying or having strokes with this med. He is on Strattera and I just dont think it is helping him very much.
I dont want to put him on Adderall again cause he is finally growing (that med seem to stunt his growth).
I think also and need to talk to his Dr about him being ADHD with Hyper-focus.
Does anyone else here have this problem and what are you doing to help your child??
My son's grades this year and even last year havent been very good. So he lost his TV and electronics until his grades come up. He goes outside to play and he reads too.
Any ideas???

I was hoping to get $2,000 but looks like Im falling short. But having the emotional support of all my friends is just as good.
Thanks to all those that have donated money!

Im not to fond of girls running around looking like the women on Van Buren. My kids school does not allow spagehtti strap tops or short shorts. They have to be no less then 5 inches above the knees.
I wish it was easier to dress girls these days but it looks like its getting worse.

Oh I am so sorry that you have had to go through all this horror.
I am here if you ever need to talk!!!
My son when he was two weeks late was born at Desert Sam in Mesa turned out critically ill. He had massive meconium aspiration. Basically its the green poo that is passed before the baby is born and when he inhaled it all went into his lungs. He was very very sick. They flew him via airevac from Desert Sam to PCH (back when it was at Good Sam). So I was still at Desert while he was over there in Phx. It was at 1am so I tried to sleep and hubby stayed with me. The next morning we went to PCH and found him to be still alive but on all those tubes and medications. I couldnt hold him for a week. Couldnt even touch him.
He was in a medically induced coma with a tube crammed down his throat to help him breath. When I finally got to hold him he had a seisure. It was a slight one but they noticed it. They took him for tests and such and finally found that he had a critically low calcium level. So when they got him to drink formula he was fine.
After two weeks he came home on oxygen and a breathing monitor. I hated that thing cause it went off alot. So I said forget it and took him off of it. He never stopped breathing to start with so I was with him all the time. He got off the O2 in two months and had to return every 6 months for development checkup.
Today he is a healthy 13 yr old boy. The only problem he has is that he is ADHD nothing else is wrong with him.
I fully understand your fears and heartache so please know that there is someone out there who knows and cares.
I remember everything about his stay and first few years afterwards.
BTW I am an EMT so I know alot of things relating to the medical field.

Felt silly to donate to myself! So since you are doing this too might as well!
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I know that my daughter is only 11 shaves and has her monthly cycle now. OMG. Just cant believe that one. But she is. Even needs a training bra already.
Sheesh.
But I will not allow my children to wear short shorts or anything inappropriate.
My daughter doesnt like girly clothes so I really dont have to worry about it. Probably wont wear makeup either. She likes to wear nailpolish as long as its black. But thats not very often. Both my son and daughter have KORN shirts and my daughter has a Linkin Park shirt.
Neither one will be able to date until they are 16 and that is final on that one. Any boy willing to date my daughter has to fill out a survey, take a pee test and submit a DNA sample. Not to mention getting beyond Daddy's shotgun! LOL.
If he does then he will have to get beyond Momma and her 9mm. HEEEEE.
Just kidding. | |
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I let them go out when it starts getting dark out.
Please be careful with your kids on Halloween. I dont want to come and take your child to the hospital from being hit or something else.
I have to work on that day unfortunetly. So please everyone be extra cautious driving around out there or walking with your children.

Its only 7 days away. | |
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I think in this day and age that we all need to be prepared as to what will happen to us or our children if we cant take care of them.
My Family knows that if I am left on life support and there is no chance for recovery to just let me go. And they also know that if we both died that my kids will go to my parents. But Im starting to think differently about that. My parents have raised my niece and nephew since they were 3 and 4 yr old. Today they are 18 and 17. They also took care of my Mom's Mother until she passed away earlier this year. So I think my parents need a break!
Its a hard decision for us as parents but I would not want them to be in a foster home or some strange place.
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I use and swear by Zicam!!! I take it and Im over my cold in three days.
They have different forms of it like a spray gel, qtip form or a disolvable form! Personally I like the qtip form.
Also wash those hands!! Lysol spray and hand sanitizer is best to keep on hand. Teach your children to sing the ABC's or HAPPY BIRTHDAY two times while washing thier hands with warm water and soap.
I always keep a small travel size bottle of hand sanitizer in my pack and a larger one at home to use all the time.
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Zicam says that if you feel you are getting a cold take it as soon as possible like within the first few hours.
And please people DONT call 911 if you have the flu or cold. You will not get in any faster then if you drove yourself! Unless you are critical!
We had one guy call this morning at 5am cause he has the flu. Fire looked at him and said you dont need an ambulance.
These kind of people are who clog up the hospitals. Save the ER for serious injuries or illness. The Dr's cannot help you if you are sick with a cold or flu. They will just stick you with an IV and a HUGE medical bill not to mention Southwest ambulance or any other ambo bill.
Just a reminder. | |
keriazJoined: 9/02/06 Posts: 1719 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Have we all gone NUTS????????
No weapons for teachers at all!!! What needs to happen is parents out there need to take control of thier children! Spare the rod spoil the child. I dont mean Beat your kids but a good spanking sometimes is needed. CPS and the police say that you can spank your child as long as it doesnt leave a lasting mark like a bruise.
Some parents out there just let thier kids do willynilly in the world and that is what is causing all of this fear in schools.
Here in Mesa, AZ a 15 yr old girl was standin outside her high school and felt something sharp hit her tummy. When she got on the bus she showed her sister a larger red mark and a small hole in her abdomin. She was shot by someone with a BB gun. The bus driver pulled over and called 911.
Parents have to be more responsible for thier children. They are not little adults. They are inexperienced immature children.
