And for the girls out there Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My daughter is 11 yrs old and is 5 ft 4inches. She weighs about 85lbs and she tells me she's Fat. I look at her and I explain that she is not fat. But other girls out there at school say she is. I told her to stop listening to what everyone else thinks about your apperance. As long as you are comfortable with yourself then all is good. Kids can be such bullies and that plays a part in the suicidal trend. But also need to keep in mind that there are a whole host of problems with teens. Some things like breaking up with a boy/girl friend, loss of a loved one (as in my case) and certain medications. I was 17 yrs old when I came very very close to hanging myself in my bathroom of my parents house. I was severely depressed cause 2 yrs prior I lost my brother tragically up on Four Peaks Mountain in Far East Mesa. He was my only sibling and I couldnt bear the thought of living without him. I had the noose around my neck and ready to step off the toilet when I looked in the mirror and saw myself. I thought to myself... "What the HE double hockeystick am I doing?? I have alot going for myself. Parents really need to pay attention to thier children. Dont accuse them just talk. Talking is better then fighting. Keri

I absolutely refuse to spend tons and tons of money on my kids clothes. Why when they out grow it so fast? Seems like I would just throw all my money away. So I shop mostly at Walmart or Target and I do look for sales. And they dont get the name brands and $150 shoes. I never had them and neither will they until they buy it themselves. I think since I never had the name brands that I dont care to have expensive stuff today.

My kids dont but I do. I have Adult onset of asthma. Mine is pretty much excercise induced. So if I am running or doing aerobic excercise I have to be careful.

OH I love Halloween!!!! I have decorated my house with real scary stuff from the begining and my kids who are 11 and 13 have always loved it. I guess if your kids grow up with something they will be fine with it. ONLY thing I dont like about halloween is the haunted house. I had a bad time with one before and I wont go back. But decorating which is what I am doing today is the best part for me and my family.

My 13 yr old son does the dishes and cleans his room. Occationally he does the laundery. My daughter likes to vaccum sometimes. She HATES to clean and it is a major fight to get her to do it. She refuses to do the dishes cause its yuckie. Well I dont like to do it either but it has to be done. I HATE to clean but it needs to get done.

HI and welcome to the group!! Well from what I can remember (son is 13 yrs old and daughter is 11yrs) we use to use the ambesol liquid. Also my mother inlaw use to give my kids gingersnap cookies to teeth on. JUST fair warning those things are messy in the hands of a toddler. We also gave them popscicles. I use to before the teeth came through allow them to chop on my clean fingers. I would rub the gums and it felt good to them. But BOY when them teeth poked thru my fingers safety came first. Oh ya we also would take a wet washcloth put it in the freezer and after awhile we'd give it to them to chew on. Remember the infant tynenol or motrin. That really helps.

My kids are 13 and 11 yrs old and in school they have the school boyfriend /girlfriend things. They dont do anything except hangout and it doesnt go beyond school anyways. What age are your children gonna be allowed to date? I was 16 when I first dated (well so my parents think). I started going to the movies with my boyfriend when I was 15 1/2. My kids have asked when they can date and I told them the same thing. They have to be 16 before they date. How about ya all???

I just finished watching the memorial for Steve Irwin. Man I havent cried like I have tonight for so long. Good lord I never knew the man beyond the TV but he has been part of our society for so long. Just seeing Terri, Bindi and Young Bob was hard to see. But Bindi coming out and saying the few words about her Father shows that Steve's work and his joy will live on. Good Bye Steve and Rest in Peace.

might be kinda hard for a boy to pick up my daughter! DH says he will be waiting at the door with a shotun. (j/k) Still these days you just dont know who is who out there. I started dating per my parents knowledge at 16 and there was kissing yes but no sex until we were a few months out from being married. I was 18 when we got married. I am trying to get it through my kids heads that having sex has ALOT of consequences relating to it. My daughter is now at that certain age that her monthly has started. So now I have to really get it into her head that she could get pregnant if she ever does have sex when she is old enough and married.

Hello all! I just want to let everyone know that I am participating in the MemoryWalk for alzhiemers. I am trying to raise a minimun of $2,000. Earlier this year my Grandfather Rev. Bruce D. Bethard and my Grandmother Francis I. Smith passed away from this horrible mind robbing disease. I have always heard of people having this disease and in my career as an EMT I have seen many people suffering from this. I never thought my family would have been affected by this and especially twice. I miss my grandparents very much and which I could have spent some time with them. My Grandfather also suffered from Sundown Syndrome. What this is, is when the sun starts to set the person becomes more agitated and does not sleep much if at all at nighttime. Its such a horrible thing for anyone to go through. Frown I never got to say goodbye to my grandparents. So I wanted to do something to help find a cure. Below is a link where if you like to help me, you can donate for the cause.. https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPle ... Please help support me in my endevor. Thank you. Keri Sweeney
