I was born in Seattle, Washington and was given up for adoption at birth. The first 5 months of my life was spent bouncing around through 9 different foster homes. I landed with my adoptive parents near Xmas time. I moved to Everett, Washington. I lived there with my parents and my brother until I was two. We all moved down to Tempe, Arizona in 1975.  I lived in a great neighborhood until I got married at 18.

I loved the neighborhood cause it was quiet, had lots of kids to play with and I could go out and run around until the street lights come on. No worries like we have today. There was plenty to do around there.

I liked to ride my bike or climb trees. We had a great park to play in. I enjoyed living in that house and it had alot of memories attached to it.
I dont think there was anything I didnt like about not living there.

Anything and everything about where you grew up!

Thats a great idea.

I also agree about being on the net unsupervised. Not cool.

I think it would be fun to have a sleepover where they can talk about boys, and do all that girly stuff. That wont fly here cause my daughter hates all that girly stuff. LOL.

Well DH made it through his birthday Saturday without drinking. He has never done that. He has been drinking since he was 14 and doesnt remember having a bday sober. So sad.

He has done well and I am proud of him. Of course he still has his ups and downs. Certain time period in a day bothers him the most. Its 3 to 6pm. That is the time when he would have his first beer and go until he passed out. He takes St Johns Wort pills and it has helped him a great deal. He has had to reorganize his priorities and where he spent his time. He avoids resturants that he associated with drinking and he hasnt been cooking like he use to cause that was associated with drinking also. So I started to cook now. Not fond of it cause Im afraid of failure. But I am working on it.

His appearence has changed alot since he quit. He suffers from Psoriosis and the beer agrivated it. His skin has gotten alot better and his beer belly is almost gone. He never realized it was the beer that did it. And now he realizes that he has problems and its his problem not everyone elses. So his blaming has shifted from us to him. He has done.

Im so proud of him.

Thanks.

It wasnt just the drinking that he blamed on everyone else. Its his poor attitude or if he was angry it was our fault not his. No more. He knows its his fault and he accepts the blame.

Dont ever say you cant accomplish something cause its too hard or something. Look at what this guy has done! It just amazes me!

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) -- Cars have been Larry Woody's life for more than 30 years. He fixed them, he raced them, he restored them. But five years ago on Interstate 5 a truck blew across the median and drove over his tiny Toyota Celica. He almost died, and he was blinded. But Woody, 46, still works on his 1968 El Camino, dabbles in racing and recently bought his own shop, D & D Foreign Automotive, in Cottage Grove. And he has hired a deaf assistant. His red-tipped cane stands idle. He walks without hesitation through his shop. He handles the paperwork and billing with the help of a talking computer. He still changes fuel lines, hoists cars and changes filters."So much of it is done by feel anyway," he told the Eugene Register-Guard. "I use my hands to see what I'm doing now."He has hired Otto Shima, 17, an apprentice from Cottage Grove High School, but they have never spoken directly. Shima was born deaf.Interpreter J.J. Johansson accompanies Shima on his twice-weekly visits to the shop. Her hands fly as she first translates what Woody says to Shima and then turns and voices his reply.Recently the two stood under the open hood of a truck in need of clutch parts.Woody felt among boxes until he grasped the right one. Removing a hose, he ran his fingers along it, telling Shima what role it played in the engine."He's just another student and I'm just another guy trying to help him," Woody said. "I kinda put the disabilities aside."Shima said that Woody inspires him because "he never gives up."About a year after his accident, he was behind the wheel of a race car. Taking direction from a friend through an earbud, he drove a buddy's car about 30 mph around the Cottage Grove Speedway track at least 25 times. The next summer he did a couple of demolition derbies in an Oldsmobile modified to allow a passenger to sit with him and be his eyes. This month he got a spot on CBS Evening News. Since then he has received grateful calls from people, some blind, some not.He said a caller from Florida said he had recently dropped out of flight school, too intimidated to take his final exam."He told me, `If you can do what you're doing in your condition, I have no excuse. I'm going back,' " Woody said. "That's what it's all about right there, helping someone I don't know."Kathleen O'Gieblyn, a vocational rehabilitation counselor at the Eugene Oregon Commission for the Blind, worked with Woody following his accident. She called his story "extremely empowering."Woody left high school to work in 1978 and married his sweetheart, Della. With help from Della and the Oregon Commission for the Blind he vowed to return to work less than a year after his accident. He learned Braille, to walk with a cane, and to operate in total darkness.

"Some people wake up and say, `Oh, man, I've gotta go to work.' I get up and say, `Oh man, I get to go to work,'" Woody said.

What does your child's name mean? Where did you come up with it? Was it a family name? Or come out of a baby name book?

My son is named Phaylin and I got his name out of a baby name book. Its original spelling was Phealen or something like that. Cant remember anymore. His name is Celtic Irish and means "Of Wolf"  My husband and I love wolves and felt this was an appropriate name. Our son's middle name is a family middle name. It is Douglas. His Grandfather was Lewis Douglas and his father is Bryon Douglas. So we thought it was fitting.

My daughter's name is Caitlynn. I have always loved Caitlin for a girls name. But since my son had part of his father's name I wanted my daughter to have part of mine. So I changed the lin to Lynn. Lynn is my middle name. Her middle name is Ra'chael. Much like that movie start Rachel Welch. I know I mis-spelled her first name.

When my brother was little he use to call spaghetti, skabetty.

I use to call Juice , Use and now this is an odd one.... My family remembers me calling saltine crackers Up yang yangs and grahm crackers Down yang yangs. Dont ask me why yang yangs. My grandmother explained to me when I was little my Mother kept the saltines up high where I couldnt get at them and the graham crackers down low where I could get them when I wanted them.

I was a weird child.
