Lots and Lots of water fun!!! The kids LOVE playing outside in the water...we dont have a pool, but we bought one of those above ground pools....nothing too big, but just perfect for us and the kids. I also just ordered an inflatable ball that attaches to the hose then sprays out water everywhere.....looks like fun! I cant wait!!

LOL....dont ya just love the terrible twos. Jacob has been doing the same thing. I just try to stay calm and firm. For example...he'll start screaming in the grocery store if he wants to get down and walk...I dont ever give in and I keep explaining "No, you need to sit in the cart and wait until we are done...then you can get down." I dont know how much of that registers with him, but he does eventually give up. Sometimes I also try distracting him, with asking him questions, or just anything to distract him from his tantrum. I have noticed if you give in especially in public, they learn the best time to get their way is to throw a fit in public. I know it can be embarassing, but just dont give in...whatever you do!

Earlier this week I ran across an article discussing tantrums and toddlers...I'll try to find that and repost...it had some good stuff!

Good Luck!

I couldnt find that specific article, but I did find another one...heres is a little piece...I have posted the link to the full page.

How is it treated?

Realize that tantrums are expression of acute frustration. They deserve a medium amount of attention--children should not feel that they get more of your attention by throwing a fit. Parents may be tempted to be loud or angry, but tantrums are a time to be calm.

First, take a deep breath. As a pediatrician, I've been in a grocery store with one of my own screaming kids, with my patients in the checkout line. My first thought is, "I wish I could drop through the floor so nobody would see me." Many people won't understand, especially people who don't have kids yet. They will look at you and think your child is spoiled or that you are a bad parent. But you probably have a normal child and are a good parent.

When I see a parent whose child is having a tantrum in a store, I am reminded of labor. When I look at a mom in labor, I see something that is heroic, triumphant, and beautiful. Tears come to my eyes when I am privileged to be a part of a birth. So, the next time your child starts flailing and shrieking, take a deep breath and remember: If Dr. Greene were here, he would see something heroic and beautiful.

Next, while you are taking a deep breath, consciously relax. Kids play off your emotions. It's hard to relax in this situation, but just let your muscles go. The more uptight you are, the more energy is available for their tantrums. Kids thrive on attention, even negative attention.

Where you go from here depends on your child. Some children will calm down if you pick them up and hold them. My first son was like that. His storm would dissolve if you just gave him a big hug and told him it would be all right. If you picked up my second son during a storm, he would hit you--there were different ways to get him to calm down. Each child is unique.

Handle tantrums with a light touch. Seasoning the interaction with understanding, humor, and distractions can save the day. One thing that often works very well is to try to voice to the child what he is going through. "You really want to get this, don't you?" Then he may melt and say, "Uh-huh."

You'll have to experiment to find out what helps your child understand that everything is okay, that these bad feelings will pass, and that it's all a normal part of growing up.

Whatever you do, if your child has a temper tantrum to try to get something, don't give it to him, even if you would have ordinarily done so. Giving in to tantrums is what spoils a child. Giving in is the easiest, quickest solution in the short run. But it damages your child, prolongs this phase, and ultimately creates far more discomfort for you. Choosing your child's long-term gain over such dramatic short-term relief is part of what makes properly handling temper tantrums so heroic.

If she is only waking up a couple times at night for feedings and sleeping until 8...that sounds pretty good to me. As for afternoon naps...with 3 kids of my own, I discovered each of them had different sleeping patterns. Alexis never took long naps...maybe an hour if even, she would wake up early in the am and cry until she was out of her crib...now she is 7 and she still really doesnt like to sleep...she always wakes up early..no matter what and she is ready to go...never tired or droggy...she is just a very energetic person. My other 2 Steven and Jacob....are the lazy bones ( i guess they get that from me) they like sleeping in....and Steven used to take long naps as a baby and still sometimes needs naps. Maybe your little girl is just a baby that doesnt need a long nap time....I know how important nap times are and how as moms we use those times for ourselves...whether to houseclean or just to relax.....if taking a nap with her helps...go for it! At least you will also be catching up on some extra Zzz's. As for carrying her in a sling all day....I dont hve any experience with that...with Alexis I made a very big mistake of always holding her (it seemed she was in my arms 24/7)...which later turned into a disaster...she would scream bloody murder whenever I would leave the room or put her down...so with my other 2 i never made that mistake again! Just try out different things and see what works best.....as for a schedule....schedules always seemed to work for me. I would basiclly follow my baby's cues, and usually feedings, playtime, naps....always fell around the same time day after day.

Good luck...and remember we have ALL been there, and we have all had different things work....not every baby is the same, and eventually you will find what works best with you and your baby!Smile

when you open up your pic on you computer, you should be able to rotate it then.

Open pic....if you are using windows it opens up in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Then at the bottom of the page there should be some icons...those let you rotate, zoom, or whatever else you want to do.....then close it out, and upload!

Hope this helps!Smile

Hopefully its just allergies...we all have really bad allergies right now. Runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes. Im not sure if there is an absolute way to prevent an ear infection. I would just watch for any extra fussiness. I know they say watch for signs of them tugging on ears...but none of my kids ever did that, so the extra fussiness was always my clue. I hope he makes it through without another ear infection...I know how much of a pain that is!!

Just call him!!

I was in a similar situation with my mom last year. We had a disagreement and both of us were to stubborn to call the other. It took my grandma to finally convince me to call. She said through her years she has seen family fight and relationships fall apart over silly things, and that life is too short. We arent here forever and to throw away a relationship is just silly. Call your dad!

When I first picked up the phone to call my mom (which was also about 2 months) I was so nervous...I thought she would still be mad.....But she wasnt! And all my anxieties just went away. If you call him and he is still holding bad feelings, just let him know exactly how you feel. If he doesnt want to talk, then at least you know you tried reaching out.

Good Luck!

We have 3 dogs....Bud 4, Sugar 1, and Jax 11 weeks. Then we have our cat Baby Zoe, she is the Diva of the house! SHe is so funny with Jax. He isnt used to her yet so he just barks and jumps around here. Baby Zoe just sits there looking at him as if she is thinking "what an idiot" It is so funny! The kids also just got a hamster a couple weeks ago....they were so excited! So we have a very BUSY house!!
