With summer approaching it is time for the olympics ... with the start of the running of the flame.  I loved to watch as a kid.  THis goes with our 80's challenge, but I had a Marylou Retton gymnastic leotard, one of the dreams I had as a kid was to go.  Now it seems to have lost that flair.

Talk to the school about your ds seeing an OT they have great ideas for children with learning disabilities, keep on teachers and school staff.  Keep in constent contact I say the squeeky wheel gets the grease.    Ask for email addresses to keep in contact with the people involved with your son, questions come up at anytime and it is nice to get quick answers.

Talk to Dr. about allergies.  There are alot of factors-chemical,nutrition, etc.  Cover all your bases!  Best wishes any ?? about IEP etc. pm me !

For my sons SPD ... is alot more then a "boys will be boys" mentality.  For him and some kids with ADHD, a issue processing out all the information.  Keriaz is right these kids are very intelligent, they just need the extra help in learning how to process information and how to adapt their disability to the real world.  In a book I read, The Out of Sync child ..., the author explains it wonderfully how children 25-30 years ago with SPD and ADHD were looked down on, thought to have a unwilliness to learn and even"stupid."  Now there is an understanding,  and alot of tools to use to help children with disabilities.  I thank God everyday my DS has the extra help he needs so he can every opportunity in the world.

The best any mom can do is look at all the options and follow her gut.

I don't want to go to far down other roads here-but you know I have my opinion  I just found it quite interesting that this would be an issue.  The greatest artist not only painted, sculpted etc. religious scene but have used their artistic talents in churches synagogues.... The greatest work of art is the depection of The Last Supper by Da vinci( another great thread to start)   Someone posted in the forum of that article, which raises question does it change anyones mind if the piece had two gay men or demons looking at the cross. 

What about if he draw bare breast- or a penis?  These too are shown in great works of art? or scenes depecting violence-which is often used in the art world.  What age do we stop protecting our children and let them express- I think after the novelty wears off we might be suprised they really can decide for themselves.
