mommyo2Joined: 12/02/07 Posts: 1870 | Posted: 9 months ago I was raised Catholic/baptist with my parent divorce, mom baptist ,dad catholic. My Dh very strict Baptist. I say I love Eric not his religion. We did struggle at first because Eric was taught that catholics were bad. He told me cathloics were not Christian. Religion was used as a weapon for me, choice a religion choice between my mom/dad-we both had to learn. At the end of the day we found that even though in name they are different -Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddist- the great idea is the same. Be kind to your fellow man- love your family- and offer what you can give, and that is how we raise our kids- specific religion or not.

I am a better babyshower buyer now that I am a mom. Although I still use the what to expect books for the first-aid- the other stuff I rendered useless.

We have a v-tech vsmile which doesn't work properly now-stay clear of this one. We do have those little joysticks you plug into the TV- Shrek and pacman- graphics are terrible but are a blast. I love the shrek one The computer is used the most. My DH and DS play Monster Jam all the time. Nolan is a Monster truck freak right now-yestersday I caught DH playing without Nolan racking up points for a new truck.

mommyo2Joined: 12/02/07 Posts: 1870 | Posted: 9 months ago Interesting topic. I hope my kids never act like that. When situations get that bad though everyones at fault though. First the girl should of sat down and been quiet- she needed to listen to the bus driver and what she had to say- The bus driver crossed the line when she touched the girl, I can imagine it is hard to stay calm in a situation like that. If she kept her cool and took her issues to the school told the proper authorities it would have been different. I think it is important to teach our kids to respect their elders. If they disagree, they listen then they need to tell their parents to be dealt with properly.
mommyo2Joined: 12/02/07 Posts: 1870 | Posted: 9 months ago I have a horrible potty mouth which I get from my father- Not that I realized it today, but when he called this afternoon he said the F word about 5 times in a 15 minute conversation. Every other word growing up was F or S or B. It hate when i say them cuz i sound like him- ahh what the #$%^ you can't do anything about that @#$%! (jk)

mommyo2Joined: 12/02/07 Posts: 1870 | Posted: 9 months ago I think I am there for my kids. My real mom was not very motherly. Nolan is 4 now which was the age I was when my parents divorced- so they were more into their woes then their childrens. I know that sounds mean but it is the truth. My dad would always say the meanest things... "I will slap you so hard you'll look pretty"-"When I die bury me face first so you can kiss my a#$" I will not say those things to my kids- I learned how much words hurt. The sad thing is my dad still says those things Just thought of two more of my dads lovely sayings- "Slap you into next week"- and the best "you can want in one hand and sh&* in the other and see which one fills up first." Altough he said these thing he was usally all bark no bite. I have to say he does have a quick wit which I think I got from him- he drives me nuts but I still love him

Not to many suprises- I think just supporting actress- don't know her name but I refer to her as the rough Cate blanchett. After awhile I turned it onto another show I watch. I think the other little suprise was best song- go to my page and you will hear it. THere is not alot of movies at the oscars I really want to see- Juno maybe- D I watched the spirit awards this weekend it is on IFC and AMC if you get a chance they replay it- those are a casual oscars with alot of movies I have on my list to see.

mommyo2Joined: 12/02/07 Posts: 1870 | Posted: 9 months ago Noaln's first bday party was construction themed cuz houses were being built around us and he loved all of them- I made a dirt cake and put candy "rocks" and construction mathbox cars. Then I used vannila oreos- pudding and coolwhip- and just like you do the dirt cake layered in a sand bucket for "sand" cake Lately I have been doing the homeade ice cream cakes. Take layer of ice cream sandwiches-fudge topping-coolwhip repeat then layer coolwhip on top and sprinkle M&MS- For MEgan's first I found Strawbeery icecream sandwiches- used strawberry icecream topping then the top had coolwhip and fresh strawberries YUM! This is a good thread any suggestions or tips let's keep posting!
