With a toddler, always go with a fun type of place (i.e. Disney).

I have no time to see them anymore. The last one I saw was on cable and was Sin City... which was pretty good.

Avoid them if possible. Too much turnover of instructors and students.

Maybe, but KinderCare is a good chain and has a good reputation (at least around these parts). KinderCare is also very expensive.

Never been to Disneyland, but I imagine it to be the same as any theme park in the Summer (i.e., annoying). I prefer the beach in the spring when fewer people are there and I do my theme parks in October when their season is winding down (although in places like CA and FL, they are always in season).

Well, you should never have to pay any money up front to do anything at home. That's the first rule of working at home. There are surveys you can take that pay (not very well of course, but I do this from time to time) and there are companies like Mary Kay and Avon that you can sell for a small profit. If you look on craigslist.org, you may find some telecommuting jobs as well. I'm going to be stay at home mom as of next week after 9 years in my law office, so I'm making the adjustment myself. Good luck.

Honestly, as soon as both of my kids starting getting teeth (around 4 months), they were more interested in biting than sucking, so the "nookies" (as we call them) were cast aside. It's worked fine. My daughter does suck her two fingers, but she was doing that with the nookie, too. She does it less frequently now that she's 2-1/2.

If you teach your children multiple languages from the start, it's important to realize, too, that they may start speaking later on in life. Someone else touched on this too - it's important to keep one parent speaking the "other" language as much as possible, while the other uses English. My daughter has actually picked up a lot of Spanish from Dora and Diego (she's 2 1/2) and since I speak Spanish, too, I've been using it around her more now. You can start at any age. If you'd rather they learn to speak first, they can pick up other languages very quickly even as old as 8 or 9.

It is a strange blue, I must agree... rather bright actually. I'm in favor of a change of color.

I actually think Huggies suck and none of my mom friends use Huggies either. My problem with Huggies is that the gel inside (or whatever it is) starts to crumble into their skin when they get wet, especially overnight; and the diapers leak. Pampers Swaddler/Cruisers are great (regular Pampers are okay too) and I actually like Luvs too. I once tried to go cheap and bought Fitti - don't ever buy Fitti! They are by far the worst diapers in the universe. True story.

Hey! How'd you make it? I thought I locked this before I made it! Good to see ya. Whole bunches of changes coming, and a few more folks on board. Starting to get posts that need moving around - potty training in 'teens' and stupid crap like that. How's things? You finished with your 'regular' job?

Maybe the lock doesn't work for moderators? I don't know. Yes, my "regular" job is finished and now I'm totally in a 360!!! Like, I had all these adults to talk to and a schedule and now I sit home like, okay what the hell do I do here? Yeah, it's a big adjustment for me. Smile

Please, my 2-1/2 year old is going through a phase of just not giving a shit what we say anymore. We say no, she does it anyway. She hits; she screams; she throws tantrums. I realize she's in her terrible 2's, but holy crap, I'm going to lose it. I know this thread was started for advice on a 1-year old and I think with a 1-year old, you have to be extra careful because they really don't understand the word no and when they do understand it, they don't understand why and you can't explain it to them because their brains can't reason the way an adult's can. My daughter to an extent too. She's extremely smart for her age and sometimes I forget that she's only 2. We're dealing with her by consistently saying no when she does bad things. You can't only say no some of the time and allow the behavior at other times either. That's a big no-no.

Why are they already out of their cribs?

I was going to say the same thing. My daughter (2-1/2) puts up such a fight at bedtime, but luckily, she's still in her crib. Unless they're potty trained, there's no reason to put them in beds so early, unless you need the crib for a newborn. I know my daughter isn't ready for a bed based on how she acts at bedtime. The problem I have is that she shares a room with my 4-1/2 month old son and her screaming sometimes wakes him up. It's always cover me, I want water, go get my dolls, etc. I'm telling you, when she has her own room, she's in for a rude awakening.

On *some* site we all know and love, I'm constantly called a dude. I don't know how many times I've had to tell certain individuals that I'm all lady. EDIT: And now the thread is actually locked. ;)

So you're using the rep comments? No rep points, though? I like those, but they really don't mean much here, do they?
