My junior year I just wasn't interested, so a bunch of my friends came over and we just hung out and watched movies, etc. My senior year, my friends and I decided that instead of going single to an overrated dance, we would get all dressed up, rent a limo and go to a dinner theater show. It was SO much fun! Then we went back to my friend's house and just had fun. I'm really not at all sad at having done something fun instead of going to the prom.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 7 months ago Ok, that was funny! It is so easy to let our own insecurities make us believe that others are talking badly about us. Now, I'm not naive enough to believe that that is never the case. (It makes me a little nervous any time I go to get a manicure or pedicure in the little Vietnamese nail salon, where of course they talk to one another in Vietnamese, and I can only imagine what they might be saying about me and other customers.) But that's ok. I don't speak any Vietnamese, so I can just pretend that they are admiring my hair cut.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 7 months ago Well, there isn't a lot of actual travel involved for either of us. I do go a couple times a year to retreats and conferences, where I am gone for about 2 days. And Randy has started going to a men's conference in March (he's gone twice now). But the biggie for us is spring planting season and most of all, harvest season. Wroking for himself, Randy gets to set his own schedule to some extent, but being a farmer, the weather and seasons do set a lot of it for him. And during planting and harvest, we really don't see a lot of him. He is usually gone before the kids and I get up in the morning, and he usually gets home long after the kids are in bed. So, other than going out and riding in the tractor and combine with Daddy and Pa, they really don't see much of him. I guess for me, I have adjusted well to him being out of the house (even during other times of year, he is usually gone most of the day). For me, it's actually more of an adjustment when he is home. Don't get me wrong...I love having him here and appreciate his help. But it really does throw off my schedule having another person here. It's just an adjustment and we work it out. As for the kids, they do get whiny and missing Daddy when it gets to be a couple of days. So then it's nice to send them out in the field for awhile. That also gives me some time to get caught up on things and have some alone time.
