Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago Well, plans changed a little bit here. Since Emma has a 4-day weekend from school, we were going to spend 2 nights at a hotel as a special family thing. But, dh is really sick with the flu. But, despite being so sick, he still went out with the snow blower and cleared off the driveway in the sub-zero weather, and went into town and bought me a bouquet of white daisies with a red rose (the flowers we had in our wedding). So, that was pretty awesome! Now we just have to get everyone healthy and reschedule our family weekend. But, the kids and I did bake Valentine cookies yesterday too as a special treat.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago In the downstairs bathroom, I always hang it over, but Randy and Emma just put it on however. Upstairs, it just sits on the counter. It was partly to keep the kids from unrolling it, but also because the holder is kind of hard to reach (especially for the kids) and it hangs right over where we have the trash can (EWWWW!!!!). That's one thing I completely don't understand about how this house was designed. The upstairs dispenser could have been put on the wall, where it would be out of the way of other things and easy to reach. Instead, it was put on the side of the cabinet, where it's hard to reach and it's right under the towel holder mounted on the side of the cabinet. I completely don't get it! I suppose we could take it off and move it to the wall, but then we have wood screw holes to fill.......it just sounds like a lot of work...... I am digging the Arbonne Daily Detox tea right now. I don't drink it every day, but it is a nice relaxing drink. But, if I had to choose a favorite hot beverage, it would definitely be hot chocolate! Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago I actually hadn't really done too much of anything with this until I was pg with Emma. My MIL invited me to a Creative Memories event, and I thought why not. I really had a lot of fun with their products, and I actually became a consultant. This May will be my 6th year as a consultant, but I have basically just sold to friends and family (5 sil's that are TOTALLY into that, plus my mil and some of my fam and friends). They are coming out with so many cool things, it's actually getting hard to keep up, since I am not staying on top of the new info. One of the most fun new things is the digital storybooks. You just download the program and put in your digital pics and your wording. Then they bind it as a hardcover book and mail it to you. I REALLY love working on all of that, but it's hard to find the time with the kids. But yeah, it does help you get organized and keep your pics sorted and safe, and it really is a lot of fun too.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago Ok, I have had some people asking for more info about the digital storybooks from Creative Memories. There are 2 options available. There is a free software download. You can log onto www.creativememories.com ... to download the program. The free version of this program has many different templates that you can choose from, and you mix and match pages from different templates. They only restriction on this version is that you cannot change the page formats or what designs are on a page. You have to use the templates as they are. This is not a terrible thing, since they have so many choices. If you want more options and flexibility, there is a newer version of the storybook creator software. The new version is $59.95. This version also allows you to use predesigned templates. But you can also edit the templates, you can start with a blank page and create your own page layouts, and you can print out 12x12 pages that can be put in the regular Creative Memories albums. I think my favorite thing about the digital storybooks is how easy they are. They are also a cheaper option, since you don't need to purchase other supplies. And you can work on it whenever you have a few minutes, without a lot of stuff to take out and clean up. I am actually working on one with the free program for Timothy- it is his "crash and burn" album (pics of him falling asleep all over the house). It's also cool because you can make one complete book and order multiple copies. Anyway, that's the basic deal on the storybooks. If you have any more questions, please feel welcome to pm me and I would love to help you out!

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago I agree with Holly. It is your hair, and you ultimately have to be happy with what you do. It doesn't really matter what other people like, it really just comes down to you. I like the idea of going to a wig shop and trying on different lengths and styles to see what you really like. I think that long hair can be really beautiful when it is healthy, but I also think that short hair can be really beautiful. It really depends on the person and their own style. I am actually running into somewhat of a similar issue. Right now my hair is right around chin length (depending on the curl). My sister is getting married in December and keeps "hinting" in a not-so-subtle fashion that I should grow my hair longer for her wedding so that I can do something cool with it. Basically, she would like it to be more like shoulder length or more, which is how I had my hair for a very long time. And it's ok that length, but right now I'm really liking my hair this length. I am not sure yet what I will do, but I do know that whatever I decide will be my own decision. It's my hair and my decision. So, that's my 2 cents on that. Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago I am also a really bad procrastinator. And I also have the problem that I love to read, and when I start a really good book, it's hard for me to put it down and get anything done. I feel really bad sometimes, and I feel like I should be getting a lot more accomplished during the day than what I actually do. And then it makes me feel like a bad mom and a bad wife. But it gets really hard for me to stay motivated with things. I have a severe lack of self-discipline, and it shows up in a lot of areas. I know that I also have struggles with some depression and anxiety, which make things more difficult. Sometimes I feel like my dh and my kids deserve a better wife/mother that what I am. Wow, this is sounding really bad and depressing! Ok, I'm good now. "I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." -Psalm 57:9-11.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago That's ok Lissa....we have a Nintendo Wii and I purposely don't play it very often (usually just with the kids) because I know that it would be one more way for me to waste large amounts of time, which is the last thing I need right now. Ok, how sad is this....dh and ds were both sick with the flu starting las Tuesday. Timothy was pretty well good to go (other than a cough) by Thursday afternoon, but Randy kept trying to do things like snowblowing the driveway and stuff like that, and he really wasn't doing overly well until yesterday. So that was a week of taking care of everyone and everything. And Emma had no school on Friday and yesterday, so everyone was here all day for 4 days. We were supposed to be going out of town, but that didn't work out. Anyway, here's the sad part.....by Saturday, I was almost wishing that I was sick, just to be able to have an excuse to rest and relax a little bit. Except that I knew that even if I did get sick, it wouldn't mean the same kind of laying on the couch all day watching tv and being waited on that dh had. If he gets sick, I am here to take care of everyone and everything. But if I get sick, he is still working and I still get to take care of everyone and everything. *sigh* It's just all part of being a mom. And really, I am glad that I wasn't sick....but I could use a little break nonetheless. "I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." -Psalm 57:9-11.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago We also did the swaddling and both of them have 2 little blankets that they both still sleep with. They are about 12x12 or so and have the satin edge and a little stuffed animal sewed in the middle. That worked really well here. Also, with Timothy, I would read/sing while laying my hand on his chest/tummy. Then when he closed his eyes, I would carefully replace my hand with a stuffed animal, so there was still that slight pressure. Sometimes that worked and sometimes not. But yeah, it's all about trial and error. I do wish you the best, and even though it seems like it right now, it really won't last forever.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago lol That was WAY funny! My mom would LOVE that! Both of my parents are young and look even younger. My good friend and next-door neighbor thought that Dad was my husband when we first met. And Mom and Dad love taking the kids places. People are always commenting on "their" kids and somehow, they seem to "forget" to correct them.

Lisa JoyJoined: 8/28/07 Posts: 1044 | Posted: 9 months ago Well, here in MN we have blizzards, tornados, thunderstorms, hail storms, and all kinds of fun. Let's see.....when I was younger, I was at an outdoor park for some kind of kids group (I can't really remember) and we got a hail storm. We got pelted pretty good as we ran for cover. Probably the worst blizzrd in a while was when I was in college. It was about a 2 hour drive from home. I was home for Christmas, and the day I would have been heading back, we heard that school was cancelled. When it was time to go back, there was a caravan of us driving together through tunnels of snow. You literally couldn't see anything along the road. Occasionally you caught a glimpse up ahead of a building burried up the the roof. They cancelled almost a week's worth of school in that first 2 weeks back. As for tornados, I remember a number of times huddling in the basement when I was growing up. Then my first year out of college I was living in Fargo. There was a big storm coming and I remember waking up during the night and looking out the window and thinking "Wow, it looks pretty nasty outside!" I went back to sleep and when I woke up the next morning, the apartment building next door was missing part of the roof, and there was damage everywhere. Also, the summer before I got married, we had all kinds of tornado warnings and my mom saw one heading in the direction of our house on her way home from running errands. About 3 years ago, we were at my parents' house over Mother's Day weekend. Sunday morning our neighbors called and said that a storm had come through that night and we were missing half the shingles on the side of our house. The good news was that by time we got home, our neighbors had tarped it for us, and we actually did need to reshingle the roof and this way the insurance paid for most of it. But yeah, it can get crazy! "I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." -Psalm 57:9-11.
