Hi everyone!  It was brou...

"I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.  For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.  Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth." -Psalm 57:9-11.

Oh, they're real, all right!!!  The sock monsters, the underpants gnomes, the glove goblins....all of them.  They also love remote controls, jewelry, keys, tools......oh yeah, it's frightfully real. Smile

Although, I have discovered that with keys and tools, the last person to have seen them before the goblins got to them is our son.  And if it's crayons missing, our puppy probably ate them.

But see, this is one of the great things about this site.  When we start to feel like we're completely losing our minds, we realize that it is not just us.....it's a conspiracy!!!!! Smile

I prefer whole wheat and whole grain breads, which is what I grew up with.  Randy prefers white, which he grew up with.  So, I buy some that I like, and go for the whole grain white for him.  The kids usually pick that too on the occasions when they eat a sandwhich.  But yeah, what you grow up with and what you are used to makes a big difference.

I agree....the big problems come from letting your child take the bottle to bed with them.  If you are trying to get rid of the middle of the night feeding, you could try switching to a bottle of water instead.  Then you still have a little snuggle time but you are phasing out the need for having a bottle.  That usually leads to sleeping through the night.  It just depends on what you want to do.  But yeah, as long as you don't let her sleep with the bottle, it's usually not a big issue.

We actually had a similar thing with Timothy.  He just has issues about textures of food.  He did great with the purees, but did NOT do well with the chunkier baby foods.  He choked on them every time.  So, if I remember right, we just kind of moved on to the cheerios and gerber puffs and that sort of thing.  I think the problem was that with baby food, he expected to be able to just swallow it without having to chew.  So the partially smooth and paritally chunky thing threw him off.  But with the cheerios and that sort of thing it went a lot better.  Best wishes!

I would have to go with flying.  It would be really handy for getting around in a hurry when I am perpetually running late.  And there are plenty of days already when I feel invisible. Smile

Would you rather spend a day in the desert or the arctic?

Good thread!  I agree!!!

I have tried ProActive and don't recommend it.  Neither did the aesthetician that I talked to a couple months ago.  For me, it did nothing for my acne and just severely dried out my face.  I was told that it can actually speed up the aging of your skin, which I personally don't really need. Smile

I have tried so many things for my skin- also have the swings from teenage acne to painfully dry, and nothing seemed to really work well...until this summer.  A friend of mine introduced me to Arbonne.  I tried a sample of their anti-aging skin care line for about 5 days and I really liked it.  So, I ordered some of my own.  While I was waiting for it to be shipped to me, I went back to the expensive stuff that I had been using that was supposed to be really good, and the first time using it again my face completely dried out.  I couldn't wait to get back to the new Arbonne stuff.  I am completely in LOVE with Arbonne now!  They have a regular skin care line, anti-aging, acne line, men's skin care line, make-up (LOVE IT!!!), weight loss and nutritional supplements, and all kinds of great stuff.  They also have an AMAZING baby care line.  If you would like any more info, just pm me.  I can also send samples to try.

Whatever you do, I wish you the best, because there is nothing worse than feeling yucky about your skin. Smile

lol  Yup, I was in about 5th grade when they first became popular, and yes, all of my friends and I were totally in love with them.  We had the t-shirts, trading cards, posters, cassettes, the whole works.  My parents let me and my cousin go to their concert for my birthday, and then later that summer, my friend won concert tickets and backstage passes and took me with her.  We thought we were so awesome, of course with the jeans, and the side-tied shirts and the whole works.  Yeah...looking back, I'm not sure what was worse....their music or the fashion. Smile  But hey, it was fun at the time. Smile

We almost always have Mt. Dew and Coke in the house for dh.  I will occasionally indulge in a cherry coke or root beer when we go out somewhere.  I will also go for grape, orange or strawberry if we are at a function where they have that.  I have never been a big soda drinker, and much less so in the last year.  For me, it's almost all water and vanilla soy milk, and occasionally a glass of juice.

We actually had this with both kids too.  We chose not to go the co-sleeping route.  We actually used the car seat for the first couple months, then switched to the very tight swaddling in the crib.  We also had the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders aquarium that we used.  Both of them really loved that.  Another option to try is putting a blanket in the dryer for a couple minutes to get it nice and warm, and then sawddle them in it.  It really is kind of a trial and error thing, because different things work for different babies.  But, I wish you the best finding what works for you. I completely agree that it is very easy to become so desensitized to this kind of thing that you really don't even notice.  That is why we are so careful about what we watch and listen to, as well as what we allow the kids to be exposed to.  It just makes me sad to see kids as young as 3 knowing all the words to songs that I would never listen to.  We will happily stick with the Veggie Tales here. Smile

I agree with what people are saying here.  It's not a matter of racism or not wanting people here.  It's saying that people who come here need to do it legally, not simply using our country without giving anything in return.  And it is very frustrating to me that we are expected to revise our standards and way of life to conform to and make it easier for people who are not even supposed to be here.  If I went to another country, I would be expected to learn their language and follow their rules, and I don't think that it is arrogant to expect that of people who come here.  I do think that diversity is wonderful, and I think it's great for people to share their culture and things like that, but if you come here you need to be prepared to be able to function here.  That's my two cents.

Here in my part of Minnesota, we haven't actually had much for snow or rain lately.  The past few weeks the big thing has been the temeratures.....generally sticking around that -15, give or take 4 degrees or so.  That's also without factoring in the wind, which was NASTY all night last night and most of the day today.  I hated sending Emma outside even just to walk down our short driveway to the bus this morning.  But, that's what they make warm winter clothing and heating and such for.
