When you become licensed there are requirement you have to abide by and rules to follow. I know as I was licensed for years and currently I watch children within the guidelines of my state. If you have more detailed questions; i.e. licensed or not, send me a message here and I will answer what I can or direct you to some one/place who can answer your questtions. The most important thing you need to do is set down some rules for yourself and let parents (even if they are friends) know up front what these rules are; i.e. when payment is due, times you are available and how late they can cancel without having to pay you.

DramaMommaJoined: 4/01/07 Posts: 208 | Posted: 3 yearss ago I'm having the same problem. I check my IE and it was 6 so I downloaded IE 7. But it still gives me the same message and only 1 of my answers showed up on my profile. What am I doing wrong, please?
DramaMommaJoined: 4/01/07 Posts: 208 | Posted: 3 yearss ago I use nicknames for my children when I speak of them online and I would like to use those on the profiles but it won't let me. Why is that? I am also not comfortable giving out my children's birthdays even if I can choose not to display it. Why can't I omit that part? Thanks in advance for any assitance.
DramaMommaJoined: 4/01/07 Posts: 208 | Posted: 3 yearss ago As I have no parents or grandparentssince long before I had children, this question is tough for me. But I have to say that a friend of mines father. He was my insurance agent for a few years. A few months before I gave birth to my son, I called the bank where my car loan was and asked what kind of arrangements I could make while I was on maternity leave. I knew I would barely get enough to put gas in the car so I wanted to pay some extra ahead. The nice lady on the phone said "don't worry, honey". And so I didn't. On the last week of my maternity leave, I got 1 phone call and 1 visitor that turned my world upside down. I received a phone call from my company that said since they had done without me for so long, they didn't think there was a point of my returning to work. Then a man shows up wanting my car keys. He was from the bank and they wanted their car NOW. Poor man panicked when I got hysterical on him and gave me a week to come up with the balance of the loan or they would take my car. I called my friend knowing she could not help me but would be a good shoulder to cry on. Bright and early the next morning, I got another phone call but this time it was my friend's father. I started to tell him to cancel my insurance when he announced he would loan me the money for my car and a few months worth of insurance. Talk bout a Christmas Angel! Not only that but my friend watched my son for me so I could return to school. Had it not been for those 2 people, I wouldn't be who I am today. Graditude cannot repay the helping hands I received from that family!

I guess it's true what they say, "great minds think alike!". LOL!
DramaMommaJoined: 4/01/07 Posts: 208 | Posted: 3 yearss ago I've seen this coming for some time now. Little girls (kindergarteners) wearing sexy clothes and tons of make-up! Sheesh! I asked one particular mother (we are close firends even tho the age difference), why she bought those types of clothes for her daughter? Basically her reply was something you would hear from a friend bout a friend, not a mother bout her daughter. So I followed up w/ "why is it you think she needs a friend MORE than a mother?". She stopped dead in her tracks and stared at me. This poor mother had never been told or shown by her own mother that children need their mothers more than they need another friend. Too many parents (adults in general), are afraid of children not liking them that they are doing them all a disservice. I am old-fashioned to the point that I don't allow any child, under 18 and still in high school, to call me by my 1st name. They need to call me Mrs. Dee at the very least, which most do. When asked I say simply, I am not your age so I can not be your friend. I CAN and WILL be an adult you can come to for anything good or bad! You give me this little respect and you have my complete respect in return. It's a big deal each year at graduation ceremonies, needless to say! I always have a few who come up to me before hand and try calling me by my 1st name. I always shake my finger at them and smile. To which I get an apology from them. Most of these children's parents stand there w/ their mouths open because I am strict but their children still want to come to my house to hang out. Back to the main point, we need more Mothers and Fathers! Not friends who gave birth to these children and buy them clothing and toys too old for their years! Only then will the Paris', Britney's and Lindsay's of the world will be reduced to nothing more than a blurb on the back of page 27 next to the ads for cars and appliances!
