MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago For some reason (I may just be VERY slow today) I can't figure out how to add friends? I can add people to my buddy list, but they don't show up as friends...help?

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I'm the maid-of-honor in a wedding soon (across the country), and I have no idea what to get the bride and groom. Is it super cheesy to just get them something they are registered for, since I am a huge part of the wedding...should it be more personal? I've already spent quite a large sum of money on flying out a few times, bachelorette party, small gifts, etc. Is it inappropriate to get something just for the bride, or does it have to be something for the two? What's expected of me?

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Well I know you're a hard worker and you're very smart, just keep your chin up and stay motivated. If it's horrible and you can't take it, start looking around around for something that you'll love.
They don't deserve you!

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago It really depends on what city you live in and how much experience the babyser has. As a college student in the Phoenix area (with about 10 years experience) I made about $10-$12 an hour (no matter how many kids). If you hire a high schooler, you can usually get away with $7-$8 an hour.

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Mary is definitley correct here - the most important thing is to develop the type of open and honest relationship with your child early on. That way they are comfortable talking with you about subjects such as drugs, sex, etc. when it comes to that age.
My parents did this with me, and I probably tell them TOO much about what goes on in my life. It's great to feel like you have a best friend in a parent, someone who won't necessarily judge you, but will watch out for your best interest and give you solid advice.

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago Yes, it's HOT! I am counting down the days until the end of Sept./early October when I can once again get in my car and not feel like I might die of heat exhaustion!
Hope Canada is a bit cooler

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I am obsessed with MySpace and have become addicted to MommyTalk now as well! The only thing that I'm excited to see MommyTalk have that it doesn't yet is the ability to totally personalize your page with HTML, and to have profile music!
I think you guys have done a great job though, keep up the good work. I heard something about your first live hosted forum this week?? When is that and what do you do to get into it??

MelissaAnnJoined: 8/22/06 Posts: 149 | Posted: 2 yearss ago I just used a new personal chef service in the Phoenix area -- Nourish Personal Chef Service (www.nourishPCS.com ...). I met the woman who started the business, Chris, through a family friend. She is building her business based on the concept of keeping families eating healthy, who maybe do not have the time to cook. She meets with you to create a personalized menu that you and your family (even picky kids) will love, then she buys all the groceries, and comes to your home to cook as many meals as you desire. She packages the meals so they can be refridgerated, then leaves re-heating directions.
I had the most AMAZING greek chicken with rosemary red skinned potatoes, fresh bread and fresh fruit. The best part was that my entire house smelled like I had been cooking all day, and I didn't have to clean a single dish :D
She also just started this new thing where she'll cook lunches that can be frozen (sandwhiches, salads) for parents with kids who go to schools that don't offer in-school lunches (lots of the local private elementary schools around here are like that). She can come in to your house and cook a ton of sandwhiches and baked goods that can be frozen for the entire month, so you don't have to worry about packing your kids lunches every day. The salads could work for busy working parents.
It's such a cool concept and delicious food, pretty reasonably priced too!
