I agree so much about holding kids accountable, I think I am a little spoiled and I hope I don't do that to my kids. My mom is so wonderful though, so I hate to compare myself.

On the other hand, my father is a kind of a harsh person, that never really had any kind words. I know now how much he loves me, but as a younger person, I often felt I never measured up.

I married a man who has the kindest heart, and often expresses the way he feels, especially to our daughters. I delight in knowing what that will do for their self-confidence.

My husband and I are fortunate to have the same beliefs. On Sunday mornings though, he's just so tired because his work weeks are generally 50+ hours. So, we don't always attend church together, but when he has the energy we do.

My husband and I both have the flu, and we're miserable. We went to the doc yesterday and they prescribed us both Tamiflu, but the doc said that no studies have been done for breastfeeding, but that it's PROBABLY ok. I called my babe's ped and she said that her book on lactation says it's PROBABLY compatible with breastfeeding, but no studies have been performed.

I took the first dose and could not stop obsessing about whether or not I should have taken this medication. After that I decided that I wasn't going to take it anymore.

Have any of you taken this medication while nursing a baby less than 1 year old, and if so, was there any trouble?

Thanks so much!

None of my kids have tubes, but I had them as a child and I know my parents thought it was the best thing they had ever done. I can't give you any advice about handling post-surgery stuff, like cotton in the ears, etc.

I do know that I had far fewer ear infections afterwards and at four I  had some speech problems and as soon as I got the tubes, the speech corrected itself. I guess my hearing had gotten so bad, I wasn't learning words correctly.

I also remember I found one on my pillow one night, many years later. They are just these itty bitty things and eventually I guess they just come right out.

I don't have a specific favorite type of mustard, but mustard and rosemary as a meat rub has to be the MOST delicious thing ever. If you've never tried this combo you should-especially on pork chops!

The day we brought our second child home we found our oldest with a bottle of nail polish remover, open and near her face. Grandma had been painting nails while we were in the hospital with the baby and didn't realize just how capable our oldest had become...

I did the same thing as you, it's TOTALLY TOTALLY terrifying!

I'm glad to hear your son's AOK!

I am ashamed to say we are totally not disaster prepared. Two months ago we got hit with a nasty snow storm that wiped power out. Ours was only off for one day, but many places (like my parents house) were without power for 4-5 days.

In that one day I realized how completely unprepared we were. We had no water, no candles, no propane for our grill (not that we could have gotten to it anyhow). I vowed to stock up, but I still haven't.

Maybe this will prompt me :-)

All five of us still the flu, so we mostly just stared at each other all weekend. Occasionally we'd turn the TV on, sometimes my girls would find just enough energy to get into a fight about something and the baby did what babies do-ALOT.

We're all better now though, the snow's melting and spring is in the air....

I totally agree that that sort of thing happens. My girls both ran around in Thomas the Tank Engine clothes, until literally they fell apart (they're both over Thomas now) but my husband could have cared less that they looked like little boys and I thought it was just fine. They were having fun, so that's what mattered.

My baby, now, is a totally different story. I once dressed him in something with blue stars on it and my husband insisted I change him because it was too girly. NEVER has he had an opinion about children's clothes, but our BOY wasn't going somewhere looking like a girl.

My girls do dance, and I am not going to even attempt to sign the baby up for that when the time comes because I know my husband would not approve, but there are several boys in the dance studio, a couple of little ones and even a few older. More power to them!

But I agree, there is so much more pressure for boys not to do "girl" things, than there is on girls when it comes to "boy" things.

I wonder why...
