There is an expectation of tidings of joy, but really most people are agitated about long lines, frustrated at all the chores associated with Christmas. I tried to mail a package of assorted exotic foods to my Dad. The content total was about $75. The price of mailing it UPS at one of those mail stores was equal to that! Ridiculous. It's a good time to take a deep breath, connect with people you love, and try not to do so much that is unnecessary. Make it as easy on yourself as possible. If you don't get to Christmas cards, that's OK, too. Last year I sent Valentines Day cards instead, and people appreciated it much more.

There isn't a mom in the world who couldn't improve in some way. Yet most kids turn out just fine. Let's celebrate all the great things we do RIGHT as moms and stop worrying about what we do wrong. EstellaJoined: 1/30/07 Posts: 346 | Posted: 12 months ago It was the summer between 8th and 9th grade. The boy was two years older and my neighbor. His sister was a friend of mine, but she didn't know that I had a terrible crush on her big brother. He and I were walking down the street one day when we passed a beautiful weeping willow and a pretty patch of grass. Suddenly, he took my hand and pulled me under the weeping willow so we couldn't be seen by passersby. He kissed me passionately for so long that I gasped for breath. It was lovely, and I'll always remember it and him. Shortly after, he gave me my first hickey, and I was grounded.

EstellaJoined: 1/30/07 Posts: 346 | Posted: 12 months ago Like all kinds of grief, time gradually eases the pain. I had 6 months off with my twin babies and then went back to work. I had a sitter come to the house. She was an amazing woman, and I knew they were in capable hands. I walked to and from work, a couple of miles each way, often in a blizzard. I would cry the whole way to work and the whole way back every day for months. Walking helped me get the pain out of my system. I wasn't crying for the babies. I knew they were happy. I was crying for myself because I missed them so much. Gradually, I saw that they were happy and well-adjusted, and I eventually got used to it, but it took a while. I can honestly say that they never suffered a day because they had a sitter. They turned out great and have never known a stranger because they were used to having people around besides Mom. They became very adaptable and easygoing.

EstellaJoined: 1/30/07 Posts: 346 | Posted: 11 months ago My first job was at a Dairy Queen. I was in trouble every day for chatting with the customers. Many years later I was fired from a job at a sweatshop for being too friendly and inciting the fellow employees to go to lunch together. Imagine trying to instigate some camaraderie. Shame on me! Finally I figured out I needed a job where talking was imperative.

EstellaJoined: 1/30/07 Posts: 346 | Posted: 11 months ago I'd like an orange blossom body scrub at a spa. That was the greatest treat ever. In between the scrub and the massage I showered outside looking at some beautiful mountains. Incredibly peaceful....a nice antidote to the hectic holiday season.

When a man looks at you and his eyes move across your face and linger on your lips....that's good, too. The eyes never lie though the lips might. Nothing is sexier than a man who is paying attention.

EstellaJoined: 1/30/07 Posts: 346 | Posted: 11 months ago I have a theory that whatever you crave when you're pregnant is what your baby will love to eat. It's true with both my kids. I craved fruit, ice cream, and any kind of pastry with cherries on it. I ate a Reuben right before I went into labor, and that's a favorite food of theirs, too.
