My mom taught me generosity and cheerfulness. My dad taught me curiosity and humor.

My best holiday memory with kids.....We always got one "big ticket item" from Santa which would be unwrapped.. One year it was a bike, Another year a pinball machine. Usually the big item required a lot of assembly. We would stay up nearly all night putting the thing together. We would rise very early before the kids woke up. We'd start a fire, nibble the cookies left for Santa, light the tree, set up the video camera, sit under the tree  and wait.....suddenly we'd hear the thunder of footsteps on the wood floor running down the hall and down the stairs toward the tree. Year after year we captured the look of surprise and excitement and screams of delight when the big ticket item was spotted. I should compile all those videotapes over the years and put them together.

I always wanted two. When I had twins, I was glad to make childbirth so efficient

Welcome, Nella. Do you know about the group for parents of twins here on MT?

My first pet was a boxer named Bambi. When i was a toddler she would let me ride her around the yard as if she were a horse. Then she would move out of her doghouse to alllow me to go in there and play. Apparently, i thought it was a doll house. Since then I have had several wonderful dogs who have been a huge part of the family. My mother  told me the story of the time she was a baby crying in her crib. Her dog had just had puppies and jumped into the crib to try to nure her. Mom claims that she must have gotten a little dog milk and passed it on to me, as we are both people that dogs gravitate toward. Just today I was sitting in a circle with about 20 people when out of the blue a dog flew into my lap, climbed up onto my chest and started licking my face. This always happens to me. Dogs single me out of a crowd. I guess they can sense I'm a dog lover.

I wanted two things I never got, both as a teenager. Before cell phones I wanted my own Princess phone in my room. Mom said I'd be in there talking all night long and never come out. She was right. Then I wanted personalized license plates  when I got my first car. Mom said strange men would follow me home and know my name. How did Mom get so smart?

For a while my body belonged to my babies. Breasts were no longer objects of desire but a food source. My belly was a warm bed for babies. Sex seemed like a desecration of babies' home. After a few months, that all changed, and my body began to feel like it belonged to me again. It probably coincided with the termination of breast-feeding at 5 months.

My favorite: Johnny Walker Black and soda. My favorite used to be a Cape Cod, but now I don't like anything sweet.

I had one bad experience with tequila, and now I can't even smell the stuff.  A really nice Friday is one that starts with Happy Hour. Wherever I have worked, I have started the tradition. It's nice to unwind and get to know fellow employees outside the work setting. I've been told once I leave the job, the Happy Hour stops. There must be a cheerleader to keep it going each week. It's too easy to blow it off.

I didn't have to because I never had a curfew. But I've got a great story about a 16-year-old I knew. He had a basement bedroom and really strict parents. Every night after his parents went to bed, he literally dug a tunnel out of his bedroom and up into the street....just like a prisoner. It took him months, but finally he was free. He used it all through high school and never got caught.  Smile
