I enjoyed Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. I prefer ballets over any form of entertainment, though. Symphonies are nice, too. A great dinner, a ballet, and a cozy bar afterward. That would be a perfect evening.

1)Worried and anxious

2) Blunt

3) Unforgiving

4) Sensitive

5) Bossy

In extremes these are bad traits. In a milder form they become positive traits such as:

1)Caring and concerned

2) Honest

3) Not a pushover

4) Artistic

5) Assertive

I don't have a problem with it if it improves security. Big Brother knows everything already if you use the Internet.

A similar thing happened to me on New Year's Day. A charming southern gentleman (and high school friend) dropped by unexpectedly to deliver black-eyed peas and cornbread.( Black-eyed-peas bring good luck if you eat them on New Year's Day.) I had been out late the night before, had slept in late, and answered the door looking like I had just rolled out of bed ( I had). I thought about not opening the door until I saw he had his hands full of something steaming and delicious. Hunger pangs won out over vanity, and I'm glad. It was delicious, he is still my friend after seeing the real me, and now I'm guaranteed a great 2008!

I don't like whining or trying to  get me to change my mind by asking the same question over and over. Ex: "Can I buy just one more toy? Please? Please? Please? Can I? Can I? Please? etc." No is no. Period.

Do you live in a cold climate? When my babies were infants we lived in Wyoming, 100 miles from a hospital. I called my doctor late one night in a panic about croup. He suggested a hot, steamy bathroom to open up airways, then bundle them up in a sleeping bag so only the face is exposed. Take them out into the freezing night air to breathe deeply. Sounds crazy, but the croupy cough stopped immediately!

This was a great article full of helpful tips. Here are a few more:

1.Learn to say no or yes.

Protect your family time by not allowing outside  unwelcome intrusions. If the intrusion is welcome as a diversion for you, say yes. For example, once you start volunteering, every club or charity will call you and beg for your help. Do only what you have time to do without interfering with family time. If someone asks you to join a book club, a meditation group, or a women's group and you think it would help alleviate your stress, say yes and don't feel guilty about doing something for yourself. A stressed-out Mom is worse than a mom who's gone for a couple of hours.

 2. Walk a few brisk miles outside in a beautiful place, preferably uphill.  You'd be amazed at how it  clears your mind and puts everything in perspective. Whenever I begin to feel stressed and don't know why, I remember that I have skipped my walk for a couple of days, and then I get back out there.

 3. Whenever your kids are driving you crazy or making you angry, dig out those home videos of when they were their absolute cutest. Watch them over and over until you feel warm and fuzzy about them again. My sister gave me this tip she has 5 kids ranging from 22 to 9!), and it works!

4. Take a bubble bath every night. Turn off the lights and soak away the day. Climb into bed nice and toasty and you'll sleep like a baby. Everything looks better in the morning. Sleep soundly and as much as you can without interruption.

5. Take time out of your day to stop what you are doing and do something fun and relaxing for yourself. Go outside for a few minutes and appreciate the day , drink a cup of coffee while reading something enjoyable, call a friend. In fact, call your funniest friend. I have a couple of friends who are so hilarious that I am guaranteed a good belly laugh or three. If I'm down or stressed, I call them. It really picks me up for the rest of the day.
