Those are MY private parts! is the title of a book that every parent, guardian, or anyone who has custody of a child should own.  The book was written by Diane Hansen and illustrated by her daughter.  She even financed the publishing of this book on her own.  Unfortunately you can not find this book in your local book store, but you can find it on Amazon.com and you can learn more about it at thosearemyprivateparts.com.  There are a lot of scary statistics that you may or may not be aware of, but in this day and age where sexual addictions and perversions are running wild, we need to make sure that our children are aware that it is okay to say no and to tell someone in order to protect themselves and others from future harm.  In any case, I just thought ALL parents should know about this book; be sure to tell your friends about it as well and maybe urge your local library or libraries to obtain copies of this book for ckeck-out.  Also, don't forget to check out the local sex offender web sites for where you live (not in order to hate, but to be aware).

This is a bit personal, but I have been expecting my period for ten days now and I have taken two pregnancy tests that are negative.  I was hoping to actually BE pregnant.  My cycle has NEVER been this late before.  Any one have any advice?

Thanks for the well wishes, but it started today, so no baby Frown.  But I am calling the doctor as soon as the office opens.

Obviously no sane person could do something like that.  I mean that seriously too.  There need to be coping mechanisms that parents should be taught.  Lots of people can't handle having children and I mean mentally handle children.  Just like alcohol and drug abuse, there needs to be something for parents that abuse children, themselves, others.  Parents need outlets.  Tom Cruise is a freak to think that if you watch your diet and exercise you will never have post-pardom or you will never go insane.  He is the perfect example as to why he is wrong.  He watches his diet and exercises, yet he seems to be insane!  Instead of judging people all the time, we need to put ourselves into their shoes and see how we as a society can help.  I apologize if my comments are abrasive.

I love reading these funny stories and I have one to add.
My son learned the sounds that animals make before he could say their names.  So we would ask his what does a cow say, what does a duck say, and so on.  So he decided that Mommy, Daddy, and he all say "moo".  Thats was funny as it stood, about four months ago.
The other night at dinner, Ammon wanted a drink from my husbands cup and we are trying to get him to say please (he's got thank you down).  So my husband told him, "Say please".  And he said please.  Then a little later he wanted another drink so my husband asks, "What do you say?"  And Ammon very seriously said "Moo."  Obviously we had a huge laugh and Ammon loved that he made us laugh so hard.

Isn't it interesting though, that the small ones can make us laugh so hard, even when we are so frustrated and angry with them?  I also had mounds of patience before I had a baby.  Now it seems like I have less with my husband as well.  I just try to remember that it's not a conspiracy, that everyone is not out to get me.  I just have to laugh at myself sometimes.  Being a mother is the hardest but the most rewarding job in the whole world!

Obviously I am not an expert having only had one child, but we did Baby Wise.  There is a book called Baby Wise and it teaches you how to put your child on appropriate sleeping and eating schedules and it worked wonders!  You might want to try that at least with your next one, or this one if he is still not sleeping through the night.

My son is like his daddy in many ways.  One unfortunate way is the quick to anger and frustration way.  Ammon will be two in two weeks and he always wants to do stuff on his own.  He likes to get toys out and put them away by himself, for example.  When he cannot do something by himself he will get so angry that he screams, crys, and throws whatever is in his hand and if he is not holding something he will throw himself to the ground.  I am trying to help him understand that he just needs to ask instead of getting so angry and frustrated.  I give him a hug and a kiss and tell him that it's okay and tell him to just ask.  Am I trying too hard to reason with my toddler, or is there really hope in the near future?

I agree with the other moms.  Do let her try stuff and she chooses to eat meat later on cool, if not, that's cool too.  She definitely needs to be able to choose when she is old enough to understand that.  And it really doesn't matter what she eats, as long as she is getting enough vitamins, nutrients, and protein.

One thing that definitely works is making sure he has milk or something to coat his tummy before putting him down.  He has also grown accustomed to you getting up when he cries at that hour to be fed.  It is going to be hard to do, but you need to just let him cry.  He will eventually realize that it is not okay for him to wake at that hour and he will start to just sleep through.  But you need to be strong and not go and get him.  You might need to go into his room if he has not stopped crying for about 15 minutes or so and reassure him, but do not pick him up.  That's the biggest mistake we make is picking them up.  If you just reassure him, cover him back up, and maybe pat his back for 30 seconds or so, then you need to leave the room.  If he doesn't calm down again, you need to repeat.  You will lose some sleep for a few nights, but he will learn that you are not going to get him up on his time schedule, he needs to get up on your time schedule.  I hope this helps.

I really like that you brought this up.  Children are the truest example of acceptance, tolerance and love.  We could stand to learn a lot from our small children about not judging others and being accepting of others differences and beliefs.

I just read this and by no means does anyone have to agree with me, I am just going to post my opinion about my own children.  My kids will NOT have cell phones given to them by me.  I survived an entire childhood and adolescence without one and my children can do the same.  If, when they are old enough to have their own job, they want a phone and can afford to pay for it entirely on their own, I will not disallow them to have one.  I personally am in favor of planting a GPS chip in all of my children to know of their whereabouts...ha ha ha.  No, seriously...

Sometimes I wonder if I even really need a cell phone myself.

I just wanted to remind everyone to keep your little ones under two years old away from sick people as much as possible during RSV season.  My husband is a respiratory care supervisor at Phoenix Children's Hospital and he sees too many kids every year with RSV.  Basically RSV is an adult sized flu in the body of a little one...VERY BAD AND VERY LIFE THREATENING!  Anyway, I just wanted to give you all a friendly reminder about it still being RSV season.

Is there any reason for him to be cryng?  Maybe he is hungry.  Make sure he has a snack or some milk before going to bed.  Maybe he is teething.  Keep some Tylenol on hand.  If he cries for more than 15 minutes he needs to be assessed, not picked up though.  See what the problem is but make sure you are not taking him out of his bed.  Then make him lay back down and try another 15 minutes.  Continue until he goes back to sleep, but the most important thing is to try to let him go back to sleep by himself and to not pick him up.  If all else fails, I would ask his doctor.
