Title: First Concert
Posted: 2 yearss ago

Hi all.

Last night I took my 11yr old daughter Caitlynn to her very first concert. We went together to see Justin Timberlake and Pink. WOW what a show! I have gone to several of them so I knew to have ear plugs available for her to wear. She was so excited to go and to see her favorite guy Justin! The show started at 7:30pm and was over by 10:30pm. Wow we were pretty tired by the time we got home at midnight. I just woke up about 20 min ago and she got up about 9am.

Has anyone taken their child to a concert??

I have not taken my child to a concert yet, other then the 3 we went to while I was pregnant.  I can't wait to share that experience with him, especially remembering what it was like to go to my first concerts.  I was in the 5th grade and I was able to see U2 at Sundevil Stadium with one of my uncles and my mom - it was an amazing experience.  The next concert was a pop tartlet of the time, my dad took me and I still think going to those early shows with family was too cool and I never thought twice about not going with just my friends.

It was a time to bond as much as anything, I'm glad to hear that you had fun with your daughter!

I havent had so much fun. I cant wait till she is much older and I get pit tickets. Thats the best place to be!!! I got decent seats. She was happy!!! So was I.

I was there too, Keri!  I took my oldest daughter (almost 15) and we had an AWSOME time.  It was our first concert going together, and it was so cool to see her eyes light up when the show started.  We live close to the Glendale Arena, so even with the traffic it didn't  take a to long to get home.  I am so looking forward to going to another concert with her.Smile

My daughter is almost 12 and I just don't think Justin Timberlake or some of the the shows are appropriate for her age yet.

I remember wanting to see Shaun Cassidy when I was 11 and my mom wouldn't let me Cry

But my dad took me to literally EVERY single Rick Springfield concert in Chicago from the time I was around 13 (in the mid 1980's) until I was an adult and went on my own with my friends!  (i've been to sooo many concerts....Bon Jovi....Motley Crue....Duran Duran.....Pink Flyodd.....Pearl Jam....(just to name a few)  I even saw Meatloaf!

I even asked my dad to go with me to see Whitesnake & Great White because my friend who had a car couldn't go at the last minute and I needed someone to go with me who had a car!  He loves live music(he was a musician, too) so that helps.

I don' know when I will take my eldest to her first concert.  The Cheetah Girl's would probably be a good one to take her to see.

I took my 9 year old to Tim McGraw and Faith Hill when they were here last year.  She was so excited to go.  Even with ear plugs  her comment was - I can believe how load it was.  She did not mind the music - it was us screaming woman for Tim!

I am glad you had a good time - it is a GREAT experience to share those first as mother and daughter.

My first live rock show was the Arizona Jam.  Molly Hatchet, Blue Oyster Cult, and Black Sabbath.
Wow.

My folks would never have made it.  Fortunately I had an older brother.

I've taken nieces and nephews to shows, and perhaps I'll take Scarlet.  That is, if she's not the act herself! Smile

Seriously, if it was something that made sense, I'll bet it would be awesome.  Somehow I just can't quite imagine it!

I was introduced to concerts at an early age. The Beach Boys used to play on Mother's Day after Padres games and we went every year. And The San Diego Wild Animal Park would have "Concerts in the Park" series every summer - older acts like Rick Nelson, Pat Boone, Bo Didley. We had a blast.

I went to my first "rock concert" with a friend (by ourselves) when I was 14. We saw Duran Duran. Loved it then, but I certainly wouldn't spend money to see them now.

Now my son is 13 and, althogh he hasn't particularly expressed interest in it himself, I am contemplating taking him to his first concert. I recently bought tickets for me and my honey to see Eric Clapton and Robert Cray. I thought about getting my son a ticket as well, but they were VERY expensive!

For my son, I think this is a fine age to start seeing concerts. If he wanted to go alone with a friend, I would probably make him wait a couple years (depending on the act).

My aunt and uncle took me to see Lionel Richie when I was 13 - everyone remember the Dancin on the Ceiling days?  I wasn't a big Lionel fan, but was excited to be going to my first concert.  The big moment for me was when Prince made a surprise appearance. My boys are still too young to start thinking about this as they are only 1 and 3, but it will be fun (interesting, scary maybe) to see who they'll want to pick for their first concert!

I went to a Michael Jackson concert about 12 years ago. It was really fun! Then he went out and got crazy on everyone. What a fall from stardom. But the concert was amazing.

OK, I once went and saw New Kids on the Block. Yes, I was a dork. : )

Justin Timberlake! That would have been fun. I think he is definitely bringing sexy back! Sorry husband, but he is. Well heck, my husband's name is Justin. So it's ok!
