Title: At what age did your child take their first steps?
Posted: 2 yearss ago

Our son Connor is getting close. Wow, once they begin walking, it really becomes a handful to watch them. Crawling is big, but walking just takes it to a whole new level!

So, tell us about when your child took their first step! What an exciting time. I will let everyone know as soon as Connor does.

I'll never forget because Nina took her first steps on labor day of 2006.  She was standing up using the couch and looking at me, then turned around and saw one of her toys a few feet away...she just made up her mind that she wanted to get there and started taking little steps..and she made it!!  I was so glad that I got to see it.

Rivers was about 10 1/2 months and both mom and dad were home to be there.  He is still getting the hang of it and tends to choose the method of travel that gets him from point a to b the fastest.  Each day has more and more walking though - it is fun to watch his beaming facial expressions while taking steps.

Anna was 10 months old when she took her first unsupported steps. Anthony's not there yet (8 1/2 months).

10 months to the day.  Hardly any crawling.  I hear that's a bad thing, but I haven't seen any evidence so far...

Hey everyone,

I am new to the site and just starting to find my way around here.  My son Jameson was 9 months old when he started and he really didn't crawl very long before that.  I have heard that walking too young causes children's legs to bow but i don't know that i believe that myth.  If a baby is walking then obviously they are ready to do so physically, but that is just my opinion. I hate to say it but i wish he would've started a little later because now he is 12 months and he doesn't stop running around from the time he wakes up in the morning until the time he goes to bed.  He's my little ball of energy!

Hi i am Laura new here.   My baby Brianna, took her first steps at 11 months.  She is now a little runner and I can not keep up! At 14 months, she is curious about EVERYTHING.  Crawling was a differemt story.

My first walked at 9 months, my second at 13months, my third at 14 months and  my fourth at 12months.  I only wanted them to walk and talk and when they finally did I only wanted them to sit down and shut up.  As a mom I had my momments, but they all survived.

My daughter is going on 13 months and we're still waiting.  She's taken a few steps only to go crashing down.  She's practicing standing without holding onto anything.  She's very tenative about the whole thing, which is pretty funny since she dives right into anything else she wants to do.

I am still waiting for Val to walk on his own. He is a very fast crawler, and he pulls up and "cruises" while holding onto things. He walks quickly while holding my hands, almost running sometimes. I'm guessing it will be within the next month that he starts walking. He will be 1 year old in about a week.

All 3 of my kids were starting to walk by 1. Jacob didnt walk until a couple months after his 1st b-day. He had been practicing for awhile, then one day he just took off. It was the cutest!
