Title: What is your biggest fear?
Posted: 2 yearss ago

I know that being a parent is tough. It's very funny to talk to the few friends that we have that aren't parents. When they do stop by, they see what we go through -- having three young boys -- and i know that they are thinking that we are crazy. Not crazy I guess, but that we don't have anything but our kids to consume us.

While this is not entirely true, it has it's moments. Justin and I are thinking about our 3 boys constantly. At any given point in the day, I would say it's pretty safe to say that I am thinking about my family in one way or another.

So, with all of that being said, I guess I spend as much time thinking about the good stuff as I do worrying. I can't help it, I just want to be in control of everything, and you can't. What, as a parent, is your biggest worry about your child/children? I know mine, "failing them as a parent". I do everything I can, but what if I don't do a great enough job?

Sorry for the long post everyone, I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks about this. Thanks,

Losing a child was always my biggest fear.Frown  Then when I came close to losing one,  I had to put my faith in God that  things would be ok.

It certainly gave me a whole new perspective on LIFE...it's a beautiful thing!Smile

My biggest fear and it still bothers me but Im getting better. Moths.

I am so afraid of them because of something that happened when I was a little girl. My parents put in Updux in the ceiling to let out hot air and ventalate the house. If you know what I mean then you will understand. For those you dont know its a screen that you put into your ceiling to ventalate it. Anyways the holes are about the size of a quarter. That night while I was going to sleep the A/C kicked on an the flap opened up letting 50 to 100 moths down into my room and on my face. Shudder the thought.

I have been terrified of them since.

Hello:  My biggest fear would be to die and not be saved by Christ.  I couldn't imagine spending the rest of eternity living in Hell.  This is my greatest fear.

I feel sorry for those who don't believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. So
that's my biggest fear.

Im not sure if I have just one big fear. I wish the best for both my girls and want them to be happy in life. I fear  loosing them for one... and them loosing me. I hope they make something of themselves in there future. I hope they dont think im an awful mother when they get older. Other than that i have the basic fears of everyday life that I think every mother has for there children or child.

Keri, I know exactley how you feel. Everyone laughs at my fear of moths, and now I have found someone else that feels the same as me.Smile I will not even walk outside if I see one, I refuse to go anywhere near one. And if one comes into the house, I avoid the room until someone can kill it.

As for my other fear, it would be dying before my children have grown. I dont ever want my children to feel the loss of a parent before it is truly time. I think when you are an adult its still hard to deal with, but as a child I dont think you can ever heal from it. I lost my father when I was a teenager, and have never recovered. And that is one thing I dont want my kids to ever go through.

My first would have to be losing him before I go...then followed by failing to prepare him to be an exceptional adult.  I want him to grow to be a loving, compassionate adult and to really do something useful and meaningful with his life.

My biggest fear almost came ture one night when my 2year old son climbed our kitchen counter and reached up into the cabnit and opened and drank a whole bottle of his bubble gum flavored motrin. I called the posion control and they just told me wait 3 hours and then take him to the hospital, when i finally got a hold of his doctor, she told me not to wait that he may be dead by then. We reached the hospital and they started pumping his stomach and putting charcoal down the gi tube i  then broke down and prayed to God and my grandpa that had just passed away to save my son. my son had to stay in the hospital for 4 days but now is very healthy. I don't know what i would have done if he had in fact died. I call him my miracle child. So now everyday I thank god for everyday i have with him.

I never knew that being a mother meant that every time you see a kidnapped or abused child on the news, it becomes YOUR child. I am afraid of losing her first and foremost, but I am also afraid that I won't do a good job as a mother. I am afraid that when she becomes a teenager, she won't think I love her, the way I thought my mother didn't love me when she set down rules. I am afraid for so many things, but I have a strong faith in God and I try not to worry any more than I can help it.

I am afraid of not being a good parent. I am also afraid of spiders my skins crawls thinking about them.

I think my biggest fear is I'm afraid of what kind of world my kids and one day grandkid have to grow up in. I don't mean its a completely horrible place. But I hate the fact we have to be afraid to turn our backs to them for the fear that someone might abduct them or harm them. The environment is being destoyed.

I am most afraid of being a horrible mom. i have so many issues to deal with from my own childhood that i am afraid I will make the same mistakes my parents did and there fore put her thru the same things I was put thru. I fear i will fail her and in turn, not be able to give her the beautiful, full, happy, joyous life she deserves. Everytime i look into her smiling face... All I can do is pray that the strength I think I have to be a good mom is truly there. And of course I don't think i could ever lose a child before I die... I think that is one thing that could drive me to the brink of insanity. never being able to see them grow up, hold them, etc... no parent should have to go thru that.

In the last week I have just overcome my phobia about driving. I used to be a great driver...cautious, confident, skillful, and smooth. I had never had a car accident.  Then I moved to a big city with terrible traffic, and within a couple of months I hit two deer, was sideswiped, got two speeding tickets, and was rear-ended by a 16 year old going 40. He never even hit his brakes. I was stopped at an intersection when he plowed into the back of me. I could see it coming in my rearview mirror ( horrifying!) but couldn't get his attention because his face was turned toward a friend. The force catapulted me across the intersection and into a ditch. I was lucky to be alive.  I suffered back pains and headaches for a long time. All of these experiences combined really shook me and made me afraid to get into my car.  When I did drive, it was only a 5 mile radius, and only for necessities such as groceries. If  I had to drive out of my comfort zone,  I would start panicking a couple of days before in anticipation. This went on for more than 10 years.

Recently I moved to a town which is too small to have many of the things I enjoy doing. All of this fun exists  in a  large city two hours away where many of my friends live. I decided that I would not be limited by my phobia because I wanted to see my friends and  enjoy all the city has to offer. I spent a long time on MapQuest and ventured out last week to overcome my fear of driving.I drove all over the city by myself for five days armed only with MapQuest. I visited friends in different parts of the city, but I never told them about my driving phobia.. None of them knew I had it, and  they still don't. It is something that has embarrassed me for years, and so I haven't shared it with many people ( until now!)  I know it sounds silly, but I feel so free now that I want to take a long road trip!

i think that my biggest fear[s] are that my girls would shut out CHRIST JESUS.I know theyve been raised in HIM, but as adults  theyve had to go researching to decide  on what they believe. Its not just head salvation, but truly believing in  and choosing to accept THE WORD OG GOD, as the rulebook of life,   ie how to tal or not, how to act   or not , what things, morals, etc are acceptable in HIS   sight. like forgiveness, watch your mouth, honore and respect..... caring for others   just because.... not to get back     know what I mean?

the other thing I FEAR MOST is that my life not be pleasing to my GOD. that perhaps  im not giving enough, or too judgemental, that i expect too much of those i love , or not enuff   and especially that ive soooo far to go in the forgiveness dept  myself. how do you forgive child molesters, wife beaters, sadam ,hitler, murderers...... HE DID.   but   I have very difficult time in that .

Yesterday I wrote about my biggest fear: driving. Today I'll write about my biggest fear regarding my children: driving.

I think both of my kids are good drivers. One tends to be leadfooted yet skillful. The other is more cautious. Still, I worry about the other people on the road being reckless and plowing into my kids. Also, I am uncomfortable when they get into someone else's car. I think they are better drivers than their friends. Knock on wood: no accidents have ever been caused by them. When they are traveling from Point A to Point B, I always ask them to call me when they arrive at Point B...actually arrive.. not just getting close to Point B since most accidents happen 30 miles from home. When they leave Point A and call me, I tell them I am starting my "worry clock". They usually humor me by calling to let me know they arrived safely. OK, I'm working on untying the apron strings, but it is not easy!
