Required Reading When in school most of us probably cramed those books in like two nights of reading. Did you enjoy your required reading? What were some of the titles that you had to read in school? Do you think you would enjoy them now more then you did back then?

I love reading, but don't have the time to read what I want.  Savannah now has to read an hour a week for school.  Shelby had her first 'library' day at school last week and it was a big hit! So getting them to read is getting easier and easier.  We are trying to read one book a day.  I find some of the new books really cute.  The oldies are still great!

My favorite - Good Might Moon!

I like to read but I don't have time too sit for two to three hours too read. Once you start reading you don't want to put that book down and that is a problem when you have kids running around yellingm your nalme, lol!! Maybe when they are all asleep wich is kind of late because I also get sleepy.

I enjoyed reading the required reading in high school - always thought is was interesting and made me think.  However, I was one who did usually wait to finish until the due date.

I wish I had more time or made the time to read more now and would probably even enjoy the books more now that I have matured some and can see different perspectives.

If a bad I read some but not all- If it didn't hook me I usally got the cliff notesSmile

One book I regret not reading was Silas Marner- I watched A Simple Twist of Fate with Steve Martin, which was based off of Silas Marner, and kicked myself for not sticking with it.  The best books were probably Of Mice and Men and The Outsiders- I have read these two quite a few timesSmile

Catcher in the Rye- Best required reading I ever had.  I read it about 5 times.  Love the book- I really related to Holden Caufield at one point in my life.

any book i was required to read or we spent time taking turns reading in class i hate, i read for my enjoyment and dont like being told what to read. i hate the books i was forced to read in hs more than the ones in elementary and jr high.

ok heres some of them that i can remember

inherit the wind

the client

scarlett letter

animal farm

fahrenheit 451

i know theres others but i just woke up hehe. as for the books i see listed as normal reading required books like catcher in the rye and others were never mentioned in my english classes, guess they figured we already read them since we were in honors classes but atleast this way it gives me a chance to like them hehe.

I was and still am, a book worm.  I was one of those kids who looked forward to reading and always scored extremely high in English.  I know ~ nerd.

Here are a couple of favorites of mine that I now look forward to reading to my own children:

The Red Badge of Courage

A Wrinkle in Time (and all of the books in this series)

Where the Red Fern Grows

The Hobbitt (and all books in this series)

Across Five Aprils

Wuthering Heights

Reading helped me achieve and opened a door to my imagination that would otherwise have been unexplored.

I absolutely love reading!! (I would stay up late at night curled up with a good book). There was one book in particular that I disliked that was required reading; the Scarlet Letter. I just found no real point to reading the book.....

A tip for any mothers if you don't have time to read books anymore, I now pick up books of short stories so I can slowly make my way through stories with all the crazy interruptions!! I'm reading a collection of mysteries with Hercule Poirot.
