I want to get my son's sleep schedule a little more normal. Right now he goes to sleep close to 2 am at times, and doesn't wake up until 11:30am. Dh can't stand ds crying at night, so I get stuck watching him at night and then waking up for work. Any ideas to help change his schedule would be helpful, without my sleep I get cranky.....

Thats what worked with my daughter she was a late nighter. | |

Get him up everyday at the same time (maybe 7-8am or whatever is convenient for you) even if he is still sleeping. Then feed him on a schedule during the day but let him go as long as he wants at night. He'll still need naps during the day but try to do stimulating activities like playing and baths to keep him awake. At night when you want him to go to bed, start doing a routine everyday at the same time before bed. Read a story, change diaper, bottle, bath, whatever...but always the same things at the same time and then just put him in bed. Try to let him put himself to sleep in there if possible. Eventually he should recognize that every day the same things happen and then he goes to sleep. Hopefully it doesn't take long! My daughter was the same way and it took us about a month to get her to a good schedule but now she sleeps from 6pm to 7am. She was a newborn though, so I bet your son will be faster. |
