Title: Hates to lay on back

I had been swaddling my 5 week old and she only tolerates it when she is exhausted.  All the other times she fights till she gets out.  If she sleeps on her back it lasts for about 20 minutes.  She likes to sleep in her swing or on her side with me in bed.  Does anyone else have this problem and if so what did you do.

YES, my boys hated their feet covered!! they liked their arms swaddled but if i tucked their feet in it was over, they would squirm until they got out. I also had one of those crip back supporters that held them in a position on their side at night time. My first child was lactose intolerent so he would spit up a lot and that side supporter would let it run out instead of choking him....huge life saver!! I was a fixture on the wall before i had that, i was so scared he would choke!

My first son hated being swaddled, wanted nothing to do with it.  Now with our second (also 5 weeks old) he loves it.  He is not a back sleeper either, but he has acid reflux.  Our first had it and spit up a lot, but with Joshua he is not spitting up he was just in pain and uncomfortable on his back.  Could he have reflux by chance?  If he does by chance  the dr may put him on zantac and that would help but it takes about a week to kick in.  Unfortunatly if it's just out of preference, he may have to get used to it until he is able to roll himself over.  I let our first sleep on his belly once he was able to roll over because when I layed him on his back in the crib at night he ended up on his belly in the morning anyway so eventually i just started laying him on his belly. Good luck...

I am sorry!  I referred to you little angel as a "he" my entire post!  I have two boys and out of habit everything is a "he" now.  Sorry about that!

My 10 wk old is the same way. The only way he will sleep is on his stomach.I know all the docs will say not to do this but we've done it since he was 3 wks old. It works for him.
