Ok, I was not sure if I should have posted this one but I was watching the news last night about people scaming other's. Some of you might think how stupid of my mom to do this! but here it goes.

On the begining of the year my mom wen't to the grocery store. Outside she the store two men aproached her. My mom said they seemed to be honest men. She said there were two one older and one younger. The father told my mom that his son had just been hit by a armor truck that carries money. He said that his son is in the hospital due to the injuries. He said that this trcuck had pieces of gold falling out of the truck and that somehow they managed to get some from the scene. (it wasn't making any sence) He said that he did not take it inn to the police because he felt he deserved the gold since his son was in the hospital. He said that he was trying too see if banks or jewlery stores would give him cash for it. Well the two men were going around too see if anyone would wan't to have a piece of that gold. They asked my mom if she would wan't to be in. All she had to do is give them $2,000 in order for her to cash it at the bank since they could not do it because they don't have pappers. My mom borrowed money from my dh. She wen't back to the store and gave it to them. They gave her what seems to be a big block of gold. They said that its worth more than $5,000. My mom gets home and starts telling me the story. I right away knew it was a scam. I could not stop crying from the anger!! My mom then realised I was right.

My thing now is that we never wen't to the police because we were scared that it would turn out to be the truth. I still have that piece of gold and not sure what to do. Should I go to the media and tell them that there are scamers out there? Should I go to the police and let them know. Maybe its truth and somewhere out there is money missing. I feel so stupid and dumb for not acting fast.

I would go to the police.  Your mom was scammed and they need to be aware (if not already) that this is happening.  If they know than they can add her to the scam list and if these guys are caught she can press charges.

Wow, that is really sad that people would be so dishonest.  I agree that you should probably go to the police - word needs to get out to others, especially the elderly who are often victims of these kinds of scams.

I wonder what the "gold" actually is since I'm sure it's NOT real gold!
