This is a totally open forum, with the exception of racial/ethnic slurs and hate crime related discussion. So, if you wanna discuss religion, then religion is disucussed here.

Anyway, any religion is okay by me, but if you're Christian, that's Kudos in my book. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by the way. Don't believe everything you hear either. Most of us are pretty cool.

It's to help people stay awake. I would think one would do unless sermons are especially boring and irrelevant. Estella

I know a few times a week...young kids gather there for chats.....discussion....I would think it would be a lot safer there..... Kids, especially that age, wanna go somewhere and hang out. I think providing an atmosphere like that is a great idea. That way they don't miss out on the social relevance, but at the same time are in a positive environment. Regardless of one's chosen religion or beliefs, a church or place of religious gathering is so much more than just a mouthpiece of the message. Or it should be. It is a gathering place, a socializing mechanism where, hopefully, positive values are installed and stengthened. If putting a Starbux or a movie theatre or soda fountain helps get people together for such, then put them in! I guess if there can be a Starbucks in the Louvre or in the Frobidden City, why not put them in houses of worship. Let "the man" make a little cash off The Man. .

I think its great to discuss religion here....perhaps may be a good way to inform others with facts and truth about a religion, i know ive always had people ask me some interesting questions, or things that they have heard about the mormon religion, and some are outrageous and others are very sincere, and ts wonderful to share with others your beleif in god and share more about a place that gives you inner peace!!

Rep points: 2881 Send PM | Title: do we discuss religion here Posted: 2 yearss ago We have a parent's group at our church that my husband and I belong to and we were just discussing how ways to boost membership in our church and make it more inviting. Someone brought up the idea of bringing coffee into service - we only have it afterwards. Starbucks sounds like a fantastic idea to me ;).

I completely agree with you - but there are many people who, for whatever reason, don't go to church. Membership at our church is declining and we were discussing the reasons why people don't come to church or have stopped going to church. What "barriers" are stopping those who want to attend? We were able to come up with all sorts of reasons why we thought this might be happening - but were very hard pressed to find any solutions - at least any practical solutions that could be put into place and presented to the community to enhance attendance. |
