Title: feeling depressed
Posted: 11 months ago

I have noticed that I have been gaining weight these past three weeks. I feel tired, out of breath, sad at times, aches here and there. I would ussually go to the gym everyday. I havent for two weeks. My mom is loosing weight and Im gaining weight. I want to start again but I get frustrated because even though I would go everyday to the gym I would not see result even though I would still feel good. Im feeling depressed because I feel that there is no way out of this disguting, ugly body of mine. I know I would have too stick to a strict diet but its hard when you don't have that support at hom. I know how too eat healthy but I guess I give in too fast. Today I was short of breath and having aches, I am tired of the way I live. I feel like a pig, I don't feel beautiful, I feel like I am letting my kids down. I want to play with them run with them but I don't have that energy. Sorry for the drama but i just don't know what else to do.

Ana,

if going to the gym makes you feel good ... do it... learn to love your self sista! It takes lots of work to reach a fitness goal... don't expect fast results. and avoid the scales check like once a month or something.

Don't worry too much hon, you know how to change things, just somedays its more frustrating than others, and sometimes it does just suck. I know, i've still got all my pregnancy weight, and for so long, I thought i'll just start working out and it will all takecare of itsself..lol   How I wish I did.. i'm just too flippin tired, from everyday work, so this winter didn't help!!  (the other day was the first time someone asked when I was due, and brandon was born 3 1/2 years ago!! ugh)

One thing I know helps, and every winter the same thing happens, I start to hate running a homedaycare, and i start to resent everything, I then know that its time to start walking again, Get some good ol fashioned Vitiman D with the sunshine, and its helps winter blues, and helps with depression and its a great time to focus your thoughts and get some alone time!!

Don't worry your not alone and I think things will get better!!

I get to feeling the same way sometimes.  I had joined a gym this summer and was very dedicated until I went on vacation and never started back.

I too have a 3 year old and hadn't lost all of my weight from my 5 year old when I had her.  I hate the way my body looks but I can't stay motivated to do something about it.

I have decided to make suttle changes so that I can stick with it.  I am trying to get a few things from the grocery store that are low in fat and trying to cut out some off the caffeine.  But I am doing this slowly because I to give up to easy.

I will let you know if I have any success from it!  Keep your head up and know that you are beautiful!

It sounds like you may have a physical problem that is causing some of this. Have you had your iron levels checked lately? This can cause a lack of energy and make you more prone to getting depressed.

It's also possible that you are low in progesterone. Progesterone is the other major hormone other than estrogen than we women need to feel good. Some symptoms of having low progesterone include proneness to mood swings and/or depression, bad periods particularly with bad menstrual cramps, difficultly conceiving, brittle hair, and feeling overall hormonally just not balanced, among other things. If that's a problem, then don't take synthetic progesterone because the side effects are also, but I could tell you about some natural ways to help that.

It may also help to evaluate how much sugar, white flour, processed foods, and caffeine you are consuming. Cutting back on those things can make a huge difference in your energy levels and your moods.

It may be a good idea to go to your doctor and make sure that you are doing okay. There could be some things that could help you to be more energetic and feel better.

Good luck!

You are beautiful! Just look at your picture. Start walking everyday. it will put you in the mood for more exercise and less food. Find some activities that get you so involved you won't think of eating. Live the AA way...one day at a time. Don't get down on yourself if you've had a bad day. Just think, tomorrow will be better, and then make sure it is. You can change your outlook unless you are seriously depressed and in need of medication. See a doctor if you continue to feel blue day in and day out. Everyone has their down days, but they usually have their up days, too. Good luck! MT is a great outlet when you need to vent. Keep using this forum. There is a ton of great advice out there.
