Title: Sleeping...
Posted: 12 months ago

Okay, my son Christian is almost 3 weeks old, and he has never liked to sleep in his bassinet (he quickly wakes up if he is set in there asleep). He will occassionally sleep in his infant chair. He prefers to sleep with me or my husband, which we have to pay extra attention. Any suggestions??? Thank you ( I sleep in a chair now, and really miss my bed, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!)Cool

cosleeping is perfectly fine as long as you are not obese or have any medical conditions or are intoxicated or on certain medications. i coslept a little and i never rolled on my child but if you feel you wont be able to cope with that then there are htese things that you can put in the bed with you

 cosleeping barrier  ...

that should be a link to a page with some that are kind of what i'm talking about you should be able to get the rough idea i'm talking about it would put a little barrier between you and your babe but if you realy want him to sleep in his crib i would say start putting him in it around three months and be consistent but while he's this little its almost like he's still a fetus so there is no reason for him not to want to be near you.

Well said.........

We never had a this issue/...  My DD didn't mind sleeping in her crib..  I was tooo tired/lazy  to get up in the night to breast feed so I slept sitting up in bed against the wall while i held her...  One thing she did LOVE was the wedge...  when she started sleeping through the night around 3-4 weeks old we wouuld swaddle her TIGHT and lay her in the wedge..  she loved it..........

I had the same problem, but what we did was bought a swaddle sack. It worked great, she would feel really snug and warm, wouldnt move much at all, only problem was that she would have to fall asleep in our arms first, then we would lay her down in her crib. Try also swaddling the baby with a blanket that smells like you. Best wishes! It will get better Smile Good luck!

Besides swaddling in the blanket that smells like you.  Place the shirt you or hubby wore that day along one side of crib, this will still give your little one your smell.  I found the better swaddled, the better they laid in their own bed and even the bassinet.

Our son hated the bassinet as well.  We then put him into a pack n play thinking he wanted more room.  He has never been a swaddler.... always wanted his arms and legs free.  So after 3 weeks or so of trying different things, we put him in the crib in his room.  it was a rough few days for me because I was constantly worrying but he started sleeping better and now that I am prego again, this one will go directly to the crib.  That way the baby gets used to one sleeping environment from the get go.  That is just what works for our family.  I am not a cosleeper unless it is after 5 am, then he is allowed in our bed.  Again.. just our families choice!  Good luck!

I had problems with Daniel not wanting to sleep in his bassinette.  For about 3 weeks he slept in his car seat.  We then moved him to his crib, and put in a stuffed animal that I had a little giril.  He slept through the night the first night he was in the crib.  I wish you luck.

We actually had this with both kids too.  We chose not to go the co-sleeping route.  We actually used the car seat for the first couple months, then switched to the very tight swaddling in the crib.  We also had the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders aquarium that we used.  Both of them really loved that.  Another option to try is putting a blanket in the dryer for a couple minutes to get it nice and warm, and then sawddle them in it.  It really is kind of a trial and error thing, because different things work for different babies.  But, I wish you the best finding what works for you. When we first put madison in her basinette, she wouldn't sleep well in it at all.. I eventually tried laying a small fleece blacket under her.. i tucked it so she couldn't smother herself with it.. It seems the basinette pad's are thin leading to the baby being very uncomfortable..

After putting the blanket under her she slept GREAT! Actually to the point she was sleeping 11 hours at night.. I loved it..

EDIT: Also, once and a while we would use the boppy in bed to keep her from rolling to get her to sleep.. That only worked for me because i'm VERY uncomfortable laying on pillows so that would prevent me from rolling onto the baby if i happened to doze off..
